me and a friend were just wondering, what happened to the paintings that col. potter was painting? who actually painted them?

A lot of rumors surround who actually painted the pictures seen in the show. It has been said that Harry Morgan himself did them or maybe even Gary Burghoff (who is a talented artist) was responsible. But it is more likely that a local artist was employed as and when a painting was required.

The paintings were done by local California artists, usually picked by the director of the episodes… as to where they are now, my only answer is “who knows?” I have heard that one popped up on Ebay a while back, the one of Hawkeye with his feet on Potter’s desk and a drink in his hand, but other than that, I can’t find any info on it…

Strangely enough, you ask one of the “holy grail” questions for TV memorabelia collectors like me… nobody really knows what happened to the paintings… it is thought that everyone took their own painting when the show was over… they were painted by various artists in the southern California area… so far, none have ever popped up for sale, but, when one does, expect it to go for big bucks…
