M1A2 ABRAMS VS T-72 tanks

Two Abrams are driving down a dry, dusty path in the desert when suddenly one gets stuck in the oozing mud. The second tank calls for support and promise that they’ll stay until it arrives, but then a strange haze floats over the second tank, and the crew suddenly hop out. They apologize, but say that they miss their families too badly.

The stuck track crew yells and tells them that they are deserting, but they quickly run away and hide in a blue telephone box. The remaining crew record this in rage, but a strange haze surrounds their tank for just a few seconds, and when it fades, the telephone box has vanished and the camera recordings have been erased. The abandoned tank is now a burning wreck, and the stuck abrams notices a triplet of enemy T-72 tanks in the horizon.

What a weirdly unnecessary hypothetical.

Anyway, the Abrams would take out all three T-72s before their own guns were brought into effective range. Three shots, three tanks dead.

The abrams is immobile, add it is stuck in the mud, though. Also, the T 72s are already within their firing range, thanks to the magical smoke.

But what if it’s a Tuesday? Magic always acts whacky on Tuesdays.

You said they “appeared on the horizon”. That implied long range.

Awh. I forgot about that, but it’s just there for dramatisation, you know, the enemy tanks appearing on the horizon as soon as the smoke clears. They are actually much closer…

Which version of the T72 are we talking about? If we are talking about the T72 B3M with the new 125mm L51 cannon, new fire control system and Reklit ERA kits which have good performance against APFSDS, then no.
