I am looking for a website that offers technical reviews of macintosh products. Not being a mac user, I have no idea what kind of information is out there, or even if such a site exists. Everything I’ve found with google is pretty much devoid of any real performance tests (specifically, I’m interested in battery life for the G3 iBooks, so if anyone has information on those, I’d be thankful).
So, is there a mac review site out there that is up to the quality of Anandtech or TomsHardware?
Well, there’s Bare Feats. It’s primarily focused on speed reviews, but it’s a good resource for hardware news.
If you’re having a problem, MacFixIt is handy. In the past, they’ve covered battery life issues. Could be worth a look.

I’m thinking of getting one of the low-end iBooks, and apple’s website says the battery lasts “up to 5 hours.” My immediate response is: “yeah, right. How long does it last when you don’t just sit there doing nothing with a dim screen?” but I’ve been unable to find any serious reviews or running time benchmarks.
Any Dopers with one of those 700 MHz G3 iBooks want to run some endurance tests for me?

Also, just to answer my own OP (in case someone else searches for this topic) I found great stuff in the forums at xlr8yourmac.com.
I believe http://www.macworld.com/ (home of the magazine, not the expo show) is still around; the site http://www.macosxhints.com is a good one although more aimed at software than hardware and MacOS X in particular; http://www.macaddict.com/ (home of the other magazine) might be useful.
Oh, and then there’s the Straight Dope 
fair number of Mac users here, and you’ll get opinions and feedback pretty quickly in these parts.
I can’t help you with iBook questions though, mine is a WallStreet-era PowerBook.
