Macromedia Flash for Windows ME

I’ve recently taught myself to write basic html. I’m slowly getting the hang of javascript, and i’ve got tables and frames down pretty well, so my pages are starting to look pretty good (imho). I decided that the next step was maybe to look into learning how to use Macromedia Flash to create animations and stuff.

I thought i’d give the product a trial run to see if it was worth getting. I went to the Macromedia website and downloaded the free trial of Flash MX 2004. The required OS was Windows 98, 2000, or XP. Silly me assumed that if Win98 was OK, then WinME probably would be too. But when i tried to install, it said that my OS was incompatible.

My question is: Is it possible to get a version of Flash compatible with WinME? (i know, i know, i should get rid of ME). Other product websites that i’ve seen often provide not only the latest release of the software, but also offer earlier versions for people with older operating systems. But i couldn’t find any such section on the Macromedia site.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Any general comments about Flash would be welcome, too.

I’ll give this one bump, in case there’s anyone out there who can help me.

ME was the least well-recieved OS from the folks at Micrsoft.

You should check Macromedia’s website to see if they ever even published a version compatible with it, then maybe see if someone is selling a copy on E-bay.

IIWY, I’d just upgrade the OS.

Haven’t tried Flash 2004. Flash 2003 has a great set of lessons and tutorials built into the Help System. Very easy to get started from scratch, although I recommend printing out the (webpage-based) tutorials first, to avoid clicking in between them.

I never thought of eBay. There is a version of Flash compatible with ME; now i’ll see if i can’t find a copy.

Thaks for the advice.

I love win me, it has run really nicely and stably on my machines. Up to Flash MX works fine on it, haven’t tried any releases later than like 2002 aprox though.
