The wife, kids and I are sitting here watching the parade, and she just asked me a couple of questions that I can’t answer:
What time do the spectators of the parade start showing up in the morning to watch the parade? Looks like in some areas it’s 50 people deep.
What happens if you have to use the restroom? Does the city put out Porta-Potties or something? I’ve been to NYC a few times, but never for the parade, and I know that most of the local establishments either don’t have public restrooms, or don’t allow you to use them unless you’re a paying customer.
Well, the last time I went was 1990. My gf and I walked to 43rd St and Broadway around eight AM and stood against the barricade. There were a few people there at that hour (the parade starts at 9 AM about 35 blocks away) and we stood our ground as the crowd gathered. We were completely boxed in within 45 minutes or so, and we remained there for the duration.
If you have to use the bathroom you’re on your own. Never saw any porta-johns back then, but things may have changed in the last eighteen years.
