Mad Dogs and Englishmen - anyone see it live?

You can read lots of stories of people who were at other iconic counterculture musical events of the 60s and early 70s like Woodstock, Isle of Wight, Altamont, etc, but I’ve never seen anything about Joe Cocker’s Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour that resulted in the album and movie of the same name.

Did any dopers get to any of the concerts? I really like almost all the album, what was it like on the night? Did it really seem like a Leon Russell show, as I’ve heard elsewhere?

I guess I should take the silence as a “no” … ?

No clue, except that I have the album (well, my dad does; guess I haven’t listened to it in a while), and I like it quite a bit.

OK, now I feel really old. :frowning:

I have the album and the DVD. Fantastic stuff.

I’d wager plenty of people saw it, but c’mon – it’s Joe Cocker. You think they’ll admit it?

Have you heard the album? It’s a desert-island CD for me.

For the hardcore Mad Dogs fan. Two full evenings’ worth of Cockery-Russelly goodness on six CDs. (Not to mention Claudia Lennear doing “Let It Be.”) Rockin’.
