Mad-Men: 6.05 "The Flood" (open spoiler)

Yeah, I meant to mention that. He’s a pretty big name for a walk-on, which makes me wonder if they’re introducing him as a new character.

I thought the secretary in the episode concerning The Awkard Purse Incident was Don’s secretary, Dawn. Who is still working for Don. Secretary working for Peggy is another black lady. Am I correct? I don’t think I ever heard her name, but she isn’t Dawn

Terry Gross asked Weiner about them in her interview last week. He said they’re a compromise: Marketing insists on having them and he doesn’t want them there at all.

So he makes them useless.

I can’t wait to see what the preview for the series finale will look like. I’m imagining a single, static shot of the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce supply closet.

I thought exactly the same thing. I’ve definitely gotten these two black women mixed up.

Joan began weeping as soon as she heard the news. Those weren’t tears of fear; they came from grief.

Aren’t all of the A&E previews like that? I thought they were a tease to get you to go to their website for “an extended look” at next week’s episode.

BTW, I’m going to be sorely disappointed if this series wraps up before Sally (Mother-hating teen with daddy issues) has an opportunity to join the Manson Family

There’s only one more season left. I hope they fit in something interesting with Sally’s arc.

(But wouldn’t it be amazing if Don moved the family to California and Sally was seen getting in a car with her new friends - a bunch of dirty hippies - and the driver looked just like a wild eyed Charles Manson, lol! The. End.)

Or maybe she’ll grow up as a normal human being. A very bright one–but her background wasn’t really* that* dreadful. (Father Knows Best was fiction.)

I can’t remember the name of the feature, but it was deliberate. The idea was that you could hang up, walk over to another phone in your house, and pick up the conversation. IIRC it was a fairly short time -10 seconds, maybe 30 - before the other party would get disconnected. It may have been buggy or misconfigured in some offices, allowing the other party to hold the line for longer times. OTOH, it may be that “checking to see” every 10 seconds or so was enough to keep the call active.

I had a little spaz at the 1500, too. Nice to see such fine details in the set dressing.

But don’t forget, the price is going to quadruple around 2020.

I think you’re right, my bad. I had the chronology messed up in my mind about whether that occurred when she was with Chaogh or SCDP.

I can’t see Sally joining the Manson family, but I can see Kinsey putting about 20 of them up at his 1BR Santa Monica apartment.

I do hope they catch up with Sal at some point, even if he doesn’t return as a regular. I’m just curious what happened to the character.

Jon Hamm was on The Daily Show last night where Jon Stewart made a much bigger deal of Linda Cardellini joining the cast than I realized was warranted. Apparently she’s really a coup.

It’s a bit of a hike, yet not too far. There’s no nearby subways (the real estate agent mentioned the not-yet-built 2nd Avenue Subway). I had friends and relatives who lived in the area - it was a basic catch-all for Eastern European cultures. On Sundays it smelled delicious (I think the agent said that too)

She mentioned Hungarian bakeries.

Does Peggy drive or has it ever been mentioned?

Robert Morse has one of the easiest jobs in show biz. I wonder if Burt will ever feature in a plot again.

Was anyone able to make out the line that was shouted out at the awards ceremony about King’s assassination? I thought it was a drunk heckling Paul Newman after he endorsed McCarthy, but the stunned expressions on everyone’s faces didn’t make sense. We played it back a few times with the volume up but still couldn’t make out anything but the last word. I figured we weren’t meant to hear it clearly, but everyone expressions sort of implied we were supposed to hear it as well.

I think Henry’s campaign will give Betty the motivation she needs to go from frumpy hausfrau to fur coat model-hot again.

That wallpaper would have driven me batshit too.

I seem to recall her driving in an earlier season. Maybe misremembering.

Like Leonard Nimoy in Fringe, I get the sense that we’re seeing all these warhorse actors can manage. I envision lots of adjustment of the shooting schedule and several takes to get the fragile performances we see.

Peggy drove out to bail out Don and take him home when he got into the accident with Mrs. Comedian-Guy.

I remember watching one of the behind-the-scenes special features on the DVDs, and Morse said that he loves this job because it’s very little work, but he’s still allowed to show up on set any time and get free lunch.
