I’ll get to the question in a minute. Back in the early sixties, out west here, there was (and still is) a chain of variety stores called Fred Meyer. I had asked my dad some questions about electricity (or otherwise showed interest.) While at Freddy’s, we found a book rack with several “made simple” books, one of which was “Electricity Made Simple”. We bought it and I have come to realize some 45 years later that it was the best investment we ever made. It began with how it was then thought an atom was constructed, went through “free electrons” in a conductor and all the way into AC,capacitive/inductive reactance, transformers etc. The book was a paperback cover, 8 1/2 X 11 about 3/4 inck thick. A whole lot of info in a relatively small book. It was very easy to understand. Later, we purchased a couple more, but can’t remember the titles or subject matter, but recall that they also made the subject very simple to understand.
Question, Does anyone remember these books, are they still available, or do you know of another source for this kind of “made simple” info on various subjects. The "xxx for dummies doesn’t even come close.
Lots of other stuff made simple
Thanks, Q.E.D. Guess I could have done a search and saved a whole bunch of h&p typing. FYI, Check 'em out if you haven’t already. Really good books!
