She was 84.
Oh the wiki shows it.

sad day. death due to cancer. a life well lived.
RIP, Madame Secretary.
We met her when she came on a State visit to Uganda with the Clintons. She was apparently very sensitive about her hairline and we were told not to stare at her forehead. Hard not to do as she was very tiny, so you had to look down at her. She was good at her job and well-respected.
I thought she was one of the best-spoken Democrats ever, including Obama. Everything she said that I ever heard was clear, to the point, and incidentally persuasive, without bombast or big language. She could always make her point, and was often funny in the bargain. I often wished that she could have run for President. 2000 would have been a good year.

Are there no exceptions to the “born in the USA” rule?
I believe she was disqualified because she was not born as a US citizen, she became a naturalized citizen later.
Persons who qualify as citizens when they are born due to their parentage, even when they are born outside the US, are I believe eligible to run for and be president.
Yes. That includes, unfortunately, Ted Cruz. The rule is that they must be citizens at birth. At least that’s the way it is understood. It has never been litigated.
This leads to an interesting situation. If Obama had been born in Kenya, he would not have qualified. The reason is that, according to the law in effect at the time (it has since been changed I believe) in order for a foreign born to be a US citizen by birth to a US citizen, that citizen must have lived in the US for at least 7 years after the age of 14 and Obama’s mother, being only 19, didn’t qualify.
I’m sad she is gone. She achieved much and was wise in the ways of the world.
Jumping off of that, she also could not have served as President if something happened to the President, Vice-President, ext.
madeline albright was out of the line of succession when she was sec. of state. she would not be eligible to be designated survivor for state of the union.
i enjoyed her use of pins to communicate.
I hate to say it, but if there were we might have Ah-nuld for president.
Honestly, if we had a Republican party that would rally behind a sane moderate like Schwartzenegger enough to put him into the White House, I think that would be a positive improvement over the madhouse that we’ve got on the right at the moment, even if it meant we didn’t have a Democratic administration at the moment.
I must admit, you do have a point there. And it’s not as if he’d be the first POTUS who was an actor.
Baker, have you seen the video Arnold made speaking to Russians about Ukraine? It’s wonderful and I think it shows how lovely Arnold truly is. I’d take him as President any time.
I’ve heard of it but not seen it.
I did see his video talking about dysfunctional families, and how, as a child, he’d thought his father’s anger and abuse was normal. I was touched.
I’m starting to think I shouldn’t have made that offhand crack.
Well, I didn’t always think as highly of him as I do now. But this video is just an amazing thing. I’ll link it below, in case you’d like to watch it. I think it’s one of the greatest things I’ve ever heard in my life. But I’m highly emotional about the Ukraine situation, so that is probably affecting my opinion. Either way, no worries.
Mega thanks to A.S. I hope it gets to the right people.
The Russian immigrants I know all seem to have Ukrainian relatives. One said her family (Dad Ukraine, mom Russian) have told their Russian relatives the truth but relatives don’t speak up themselves because they don’t want to be beaten or arrested.
OK, now that we got Arnold sorted out, I guess it is not the customary nihil nisi bene if I point out that Ms Albright expressed some opinions that were hard to swallow? I mean, for instance:
Yes, in Europe some remember the wars we did not agree with (and still have not forgotten BlairBliar’s and Aznar’s stance either, in case you wondered).
