MADS -- an outing that's a cut above [May 5th]

Psst, rockle, garden-y type outing planned here.

Whoa. It’s like being through the looking-glass.

Damn. Not enough sleep, too much coffee. I thought I was still in the GettysDope thread.
:smack:

I checked my work schedule today. Currently, I’m supposed to be on a system installation in Europe the weekend of this Dopefest. But neither the April trip nor the May trip have been finalized. So mark me as tentative.

Tough job, eh?

Yes, it’s kids friendly. Probably not super exciting, but lots of places to run around and throw rocks at each other. They might find the topiary stuff cool.

I’ve been. It’s real nice. I don’t know how the roses will be that time of year, but there’s a rose garden there, and I think I spent about 30 minutes one day just sniffing roses.

I probably won’t make this, but have fun. They might have a little tea house on the property too, which is a potential place to eat.

The tough parts are:

  1. The install trips aren’t definite, even though the first one is in three weeks.

  2. Some of the customer sites are low on decor, amenities, nearby stuff-worth-visiting.

  3. In event of an, er, “incident” at the customer site, us civilians might be considered “expendible” or “cannon fodder,” as the situation requires.

The good part is, the first installation is scheduled for Brussels. I plan to take the weekend during the install trip to go to London and repay some debts to the London Dopers. I owe them several rounds of drinks.

blink blink Wha??

Heard back from my mom today - she’s in, barring unforeseen circumstances. I wonder if she’d have accepted if she knew we’ll be meeting up with a bunch of internet weirdos???

Please have some sprouts and some chocolate for me while you’re in Brussels. Chocolate-covered sprouts is taking things a bit too far, though.

Robin

Chocolate-covered sprouts is a waste of good Belgian chocolate, IMnshO.

We got an update today from the customer that might or might not change the schedule. I’m still tentative for this Dopefest.

I don’t think it’s wise for me to do this just before my last two APs. I’m bowing out.

This outing let me dodge a bullet. We got an invite to spouse’s boss’ house for a Cinco de Mayo thing - darn the luck… So he’s going solo so schmooze and I get to hang around with flowers and Dopers. I win!!

The bad news: I was not able to convince the spousal unit to take me to Baltimore the weekend of my birthday. The good news: This is because he’s taking me to the Caribbean instead (combo anniversary and b’day present). So I have to miss this one, but I plan to be at Gettysdope. Forewarned is forearmed, and all that.

You guys have fun for me, though, OK?

bump

FairyChatMom asked me the other day if I’d done any research on group tours – no – or come up with a Plan B for inclement weather – no.

And, I’m getting ready to leave the country for a week, so I’m not planning to do either. If anyone else wants to, feel free.

Can I suggest a request for a Title change to include the Date. It might make it easier for people who take interest or are having memory laspes like me.

**Saturday May 5th. **

Turns out my sister is having a dinner party that night that I’d like to go to, so I’d want to be back in Philly by 6:30 or so, which means leaving B’more by 4. If we meet at noon, would that be enough time? Would meeting at 11 be too early for people?

I can’t make it, after all. That’s the preschool fundraiser and I’ve signed up to help.

Robin

11 would work for me - I planned to get to Mom’s early anyway. This is a combined answer and bump for those who didn’t see this thread on Tuesday.

11am sounds fine, we plan to be in Baltimore Friday.
