I believe he’s tried that already, Ginger. He’s actually even had surgery on his sinuses, which helped a little bit; but he’s been through about 27 different regimens with about 9,000 different medications, full allergy testing, the works, and no one can figure out what he’s allergic to. Except that his head nearly cleared up the week we were in New Orleans. We’re confused. And frustrated.
Clearly, he is allergic to Yankees, which everyone knows Maryland is lousy with.
I’ll be bringing a camera with my Yankee ass when I cross the Mason Dixon line.
And, BTW, I’m going to skip all rhinestone accessories – but will wear my turquoise baseball cap to make me easier to spot. (Since a dainty little morsel like myself is always in danger of being misplaced…)
Maybe I should just wear my Yankee Cap.
Home safe and sound after a lovely outing. I think my mom really enjoyed herself, too. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s pictures, since I up and forgot my camera.
Many thanks to **twicks ** for putting this together, tho she gets demerits for not wearing her tiara. I almost didn’t recognize her. OK, maybe not…
And all these hours later, I’m still stuffed full of Basta Pasta - that was some lunch!
OK, I admit, I came back here to check who was coming because I didn’t introduce myself to everyone. So, were you sitting next to me at the restaurant? I’m pretty sure I matched up all the other names and faces. Yeah, some of my social skills suck…
Thanks for organizing the outing Twicks, we had fun.
Wish we could have made it, but a late night last night (we went to see CeCe Peniston!), moderate hangover for someone, and a necessity to run an errand kept us in Amish country. We were there in spirit, though, as part of the errand was to go to our local nursery and get some new plants!
An excellent day! Here be my photo album upload.
Nice pics! No one took any in the restaurant, tho - guess we were all too hungry??
To ID the group shot that ends dwc’s album:
(L-R): What Exit?, Two Trouts, Mama Tiger (kneeling), **twickster, Ginger of the North ** (nice legs!), Commasense, FairyChatMom (kneeling), FCM’s mom, Scuba Ben, BiblioCat, danceswithcats.
Camera-shy: PsychoBunny, WhiteRabbit.
ETA: the four google ads have two for Yankees fan-crap, one for flashing jewelry (sic), and one for regular jewelry.
Is flashing jewelry what one wears with a trench coat and tiaras around a schoolyard?
We’re getting allergy ads, which is why BiblioCat has been sneezing.
I’m getting tiaras and asthma meds. And Mother’s day flowers.
All the fresh air and exercise made me sleep long and deep last night - I didn’t get up till almost 7 this morning, which is a record of sorts for me! Incidentally, my mom is ready to go back when the roses bloom, except she doesn’t think it’s worth the money just to see the roses. She did say she’d pay to watch them prune/trim/groom the shrubs. I think I’d pay to see that, too!
Thanks to all for a great day! I came here to post a link to the photos but, hell, dances has a much better representation of the day! Let’s do it again next year when the Irises are in bloom!
That was a nice 'fest. I think I will probably try to hit that place again, on my own, just to wander. Maybe park my butt on the bench at the teahouse and read or something.
It was great to meet you all. Thanks for suggesting the meet, twickster. See you all again sometime.
'Twas indeed a very fun day – I’m in humble awe of whatever amazing person organized it. Seriously, though – FCM definitely gets points for an excellent restaurant choice – close, easy to find, and outstanding food.
I took a few pix that aren’t bad – crashed my poor dial-up when I tried to upload them last night, so I’ll do that from work tomorrow … and the Holland pix as well.
I got a bit of a sunburn! Not painful, but when I stepped out of the shower, my sweetie commented on the reddish skin encircling my neck region. No, I’m not a redneck, dagnabbit.
And twicks, don’t forget that the restaurant was also relatively cheap. Fourteen people eating for just under $200, including the 20% service charge - I thought it was pretty good, considering how much we got to eat. Good salad, good breadsticks, and my sketty carbonara was yummerrific! My mom had suggested it last year when we took her out for Mother’s Day - I was pretty sure it would go over well with a contingent of Dopers.
I liked your mom.
Yeah, she’s not bad for an old broad…
