I never have understood why post editing is a big deal in a mafia game. I’d rather be able to clean up my typo.
Some people claim it is scummy move to edit. Like if a scum accidentally gives away a lie, then they catch their mistake after posting, and go back and edit it. Or in games with no day yap, scrums can give each other secret messages or something. I never bought it that line of reasoning though, but I am curious to try it sometime now.
Then players can judge the editor as Scummy. The editor can explain why they edited. If someone lies they may or may not be caught in the lie. This just seems like part of the game to me.
As to secret messages, that kind of play would be against the spirit of the rules in most games.
Or why not allow it and perhaps the conspirators would be caught? I kind of like the idea of Scum trying to secretly communicate, but risking a Town player stumbling onto the conversation.
I’m all for allowing it. If scum are coordinated enough to be online during the same 5 min slice of time to pass messages, more power to them.

Yeah, the rules are a bit…vague…on that. But after rereading them just now, I’m gonna assume they don’t. Perhaps one the scumbos will chime in and let us know for sure…

I’m happy to be an alternate if needed and it helps balance the game. Not sure I’ll be able to keep up with all these posts, but I think I’ve now posted more than 2 of the players :).
The rules say:
“During the Night, the Mafia members will confer at a secret location listed in their PM, and decide on someone to murder.”
My initial reading was that they only have night talking, but I suppose this doesn’t strictly say that. Still, this is a vanilla game and isn’t the default for scum night talking only?
As for editing, it can be a way to get simple messages to your scumbuddies if you’ve talked about it beforehand and only have night talk. “I’ll edit my post if my investigation turns up a power role.”
But you can just as easily say, “I’ll begin my first post of the Day with the letter G if my investigation turns up a power role.” I tend to frown against that kind of thing when running a game. I think day communication for scum is very powerful. Either they have it or they don’t. No half-measures.
As for editing - if you make a mistake, post again with an NETA. I will always view post-editing as a scum tell.
I am a complete and utter newbie. I don’t know where MafiaCentral is, and I don’t know what we’re voting for, but I’ll vote for the Professor, whatever it is.

MafiaCentral was a website where there was lots of info about the game. Going there just now, I find it’s become devoted to Sims. And not being updated.
In order to vote for someone (doesn’t have to be ME, y’know), you need to put down the name of the person you are voting, bold it and color it blue. To unvote, do the same, but in red.
