Mafia: Mutiny on the SS Incorrigible

Fair enough. I am hoping it will give me something to say. I have no opinions on the strategy discussion going on at the moment, and there isn’t a whole lot else.

I am going to throw out a string of random votes in a couple of hours if things don’t pick up. I know I am a bit a part of the problem, but that is a scheduling issue, and more a result of having just come off a weekend than anything.

Sorry, I’d overlooked that in the rules post - won’t happen again.

That certainly throws a wrench in things.

Interesting. Last time a scum cookies was the cracker. I wonder if this means there’s another mutinous cracker. I wouldn’t be averse to the doctor taking a look at Naf. I don’t really have ant reason for it other than the doctor should look at someone Today and Naf is just as good a target as anyone else. If we get a town result then he’s either a ringleader or what he says he is and I’ve been burned by Naf before.

It’s, what, 50 hours from the end of the day and only one person is actually voting for enough people that their votes count. I’d like to see a lot more votes by this time tomorrow so that we have some time to discuss the ramifications of who is in the lynch lead which really won’t happen if everyone votes Thursday morning. The other thing I want to mention is the vote threshold. A lot of us are used to simple majority voting. Whoever has the most votes at the end of the day gets it whether that’s 1 vote or 10. Here, we need 8 people voting for the same person to get them lynched. So, it’s really important that people vote and anyone who ‘forgets’ or ‘misses a chance’ to vote should be looked at very suspiciously.

I want Hal Briston to come back and either talk more about his votes or choose other people. I want Crackrat and Idle Thoughts to come talk to us some more. And I feel like Normal Phase is sounding out the waters and gently poking at people to see what reactions she can get.

Vote Hal Briston, Crackrat, Idle Thoughts, Normal Phase

I object to the word “gentle”.

More seriously, in what sense is poking people to see their reaction supposed to pass as scummy?

You prefer “whanging upside the head” ?

Not that that’s entirely a correct characterization regardless, but it can stand.

Some of your comments especially with Red feel like they were put out there to see how well they’d float.

Whanging upside the head works nicely.

why wouldn’t you doubt him?

The heck of it is I’m not sure that’s a fair assessment or not. It’s not right, though.

Ok either we need to start quoting people or leave more space in between posts because I’m starting to get confused about who’s talking to whom. NP, whanging was more of a joke than an attempt to accurately label.

I like it, though. It fits my self-image better than “gently poking”. I’m not nearly as much of a gladiator as I like to think I am, but it makes me happy.

I have trouble finding one person to vote for in games sometimes, much less four.

All right…
Vote Peekercpa for not (and still not) reading the directions apparently, and voting for only three players (not to mention for apparently not even reading who is in the game and trying to vote for Story)
Vote Red Skeezix for the same reason. What good does one vote do? It’s not counted.
Vote Inner Stickler for trying for the “lynch the lurker” type vote (which tend to be “safe” votes since the people haven’t been around to defend themselves).
Vote Natlaw for thinking putting the word “Loyal” in underline is supposed to tip us off that he’s pro-Town, when it’s shown in one of the beginning posts that it will be underlined in the PM.

Implicit in signing up to play the game is that you’ll be “around” and as the rules say it is up to us players to enforce participation. So on day 1 this is what I’m doing. I would love to hear your opinions on things that happened more recently than last Friday.

Votes don’t count until all four have been placed. That doesn’t mean all four votes must be placed at once. Peeker’s votes will count when he votes for a fourth player and Red’s when he votes for 3 more people . So while I encourage them to bring their total to 4, I’m not understanding why people are so troubled by their half-votes.

<snipped>

yeh, i am not getting that either. but i only see one person who really seems to have a problem. additionally any one who has played with me enough knows that story gets a vote more often than not regardless of his actual game status. so that’s kind of a lame reason.

vote idle

Ok, I guess, but I don’t get the benefit. It seems to me that a Cracker is a secret role to undermine scum officers (if, as is presumed, you’re Loyal) so why stick your neck out?

I said I didn’t necessarily doubt him. I wanted to be clear that it was a question, not an accusation.

However, if you’re asking for my opinion, I don’t see any reason why this claim is particularly suspect as of yet. That doesn’t mean he’s beyond doubt but I see no particular reason to be suspect of his claim. The lack of participation so far benefits scum; why stir the pot with no real benefit? I guess it’s possible that he wants to take an early lead to try to gain the trust of town (especially if a Ringleader) but I see no particular evidence of that. Making an early role claim in these circumstances wouldn’t be a play I’d make as scum.

For what it’s worth, I don’t care for it either. I don’t see how bringing in your personal joke is of benefit to anyone and it sows unnecessary confusion. We have some new players and some people (like me) who don’t play all that frequently; how should we know if this is your particular ritual unless you say so? As a matter of course, joke-voting (presumably?) doesn’t sit right by me, regardless of circumstance. Particularly an unexplained (until now) joke.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a scum tell or anything, just that it’s non-constructive. I just don’t care for it and think it muddies the water with irrelevant issues that we needn’t spend time discussing.

As far as I’m concerned, vote when you mean it. Expect criticism.

BTW, did some quick searches on people I can’t remember talking much. Drain Bead and Crackrat, I’m calling you out. Talk.
