Mafia: Mutiny on the SS Incorrigible

In.

The first version of this game was my first outing with this bunch of players and I was lynched day one. (And was town.) Good times.

I’ll play but if the list fills up and there are other people who want to play put them ahead of me.

In (my mafia cherry).

You are a brave soul, fubbleskag. This is a slightly different version of mafia with the officer roles. There is more and a different kind of strategy involved here. I advise you to read the rules carefully and pay a lot of attention to the discussion especially any that happens before role pms are sent out as that discussion can pretty much be assumed to be honest. Have fun and don’t necessarily worry about being killed; it happens to the best of us. I know for me, I didn’t really get mafia until I had been a scum.

a pleo game?

hell yeh.

I’m not totally new to Mafia, I’ve played a bit online. Unfortunately, there are far more trolls and idiots there than actual serious players, so it’s tough to work out the strategies. But this definitely looks like fun.

Yes please!

well i don’t know about trolls but we do have our fair share of idiots.

And then we have peeker. I’m not sure which category to put him in.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Getting close:

  1. Mahaloth
  2. glowacks
  3. Natlaw
  4. Drain Bead
  5. Crackrat
  6. Idle Thoughts
  7. NAF1138
  8. Stanislaus
  9. TexCat
  10. Normal Phase
  11. fubbleskag
  12. peekercpa
  13. fluiddruid
  14. Inner Stickler

I’d play, but I’m going to be gone for a week in April.

It starts at four. Chronos got the count wrong! SPACE HIM!

Don’t mind me, I’m a passenger, not crew. (IOW: /out)

Out.
Out.
Out.
Out.
Oh, hell with it.

In.

All right, just need one more…

Oh hey. Looks like i’m /in.

Also are the current ranks going to be published by the mod? Are the starting ranks going to be published by the mod? Or is that part of the private PM?

Ranks are public. In fact, here is the starting crew list:

  1. Hal Briston - Captain
  2. fluiddruid - Executive Officer
  3. TexCat - Chief of Security
  4. peekercpa - Head of Engineering
  5. Mahaloth - Ship’s Doctor
  6. Inner Stickler
  7. Red Skeezix
  8. glowacks
  9. Natlaw
  10. Normal Phase
  11. fubbleskag
  12. Crackrat
  13. Stanislaus
  14. Drain Bead
  15. Idle Thoughts
  16. NAF1138

This list will be updated whenever it changes. Note that there is no correlation between starting rank and role or alignment.

Roles will PM’d out sometime tonight or tomorrow morning. Day One will officially start 12 noon PT (3pm ET) Thu Mar 17 and end 12 noon PT (3pm ET) Thu Mar 24. If you want to get into character, you can consider it to now be Night Zero, before anyone knows their role or alignment.

Some questions: what night actions count as interacting with the target of the Engineer? If the target is affected by a hacker or cracker, will either of the latter show up? What about if the target is a hacker or cracker themselves - will the engineer see anyone they target? Apart from those, it appears as though the only night actions are the scum kill and the potential Commissar kill.

When exactly does the Doctor get their information - after the day’s lynch? Can they announce the results of the study before the scum have the chance to kill them? I’m guessing that the answers are yes and no, and that the only reason that the investigation is not a night action is so that it doesn’t show up on the Engineer’s scans.

Not official, but:

In the previous game of these rules, the Doctor stating the results of their investigation was an explicitly-permitted exception to the “no strategy at Night” rule. If the Doctor was lynched, the information was lost, but e was able to get the results out before getting Night-killed.

Also note that the Doctor’s action is publicly-viewable, so even if it were a Night action, it wouldn’t be all that much interference with the Engineer’s results: Everyone could just subtract out the Doctor’s actions.

Woohoo! Chief of Security! I guess with that and $5 I could buy a cup of coffee.

My understanding is that the Chief of Security doesn’t do anything except follow the captain’s orders. Although, I guess I do have the option of NOT following the captain’s orders.
