Mafia: Not-so-simple-Simpletown

A bunch of “me, too” posts that contribute no new information and inflate the vote count of one player.
When I made my initial post, it seemed like MentalGuy gathered votes really quickly.
He could have been the designated lynch very early in the day if that had gone on (in the other game big shifts in votes did not normally occur, of course my experience is not that extensive).

Of course such a pile-on can be entirely justified, but I felt it was not at this point.

Why did you feel it was your responsibility to stop a bunch of me too posts?

What leads you to believe it’s scum leading a charge against you instead of town? Why wouldn’t Scum sit back and see what happens?

Oh, so we’re seeing the newbies figure out *the third vote is Scum *rule.

Most experienced players have come to this conclusion at some point, and then discarded it as it then becomes a Scum would never do that situation and a complete WiFoM as well as preventing a Town from voting third

Vote Almost Human

snuggle snuggle

egad! I somehow left mental guy’s vote in my post.

I did not intend to do that at all

unvote almost human**

Jesus, the votes and accusations are positively flying. I feel like I’m in the opening scenes of Saving Private Ryan

feel free to edit out my inadvertent vote, mods

Hero, how often do I have to repeat myself? I didn’t think it was justified. Exhaustive explanations above.

Ed, when I saw your vote I thought that I had now started a pile-on… but that would make your vote the third one…
Well, it was all just a dream.

Anyway, the sentence you quoted was cute, yes, but what does it tell you?

Who is storming the beach?
Are you implying something just because I’m German?

What does what tell me? That you and mental guy are snuggling?

It tells me that one of you wants some townie cred, I think. And that by attaching yourself to a Townie, you’re hoping to come off as innocent and indignant when the other is lynched and proven Town.
See, a Town player would have absolutely no reason to trust another town player. A Scum player, however, would know that anyone who isn’t Scum is very likely Town. So, you play nice with them, try to win friends, and when they’re dead, you say, “see, I was thinking just like my dear dead Townie buddy”

Very safe for a Scum, especially when the other Town is way off track anyway.

Just remember that the only certain things in Mafia are votes and death - we don’t know you and MentalGuy have the same side, so that you arguments aligned.

Together with your last post, I think the Split game is a bit abnormal with the Testerizer and the mass test + lynch vote wagons.

NETA: ‘so that’ should ‘just that your arguments do align’

And I should have previewed, the ‘last post’ I mention was post 261, but already special ed took my thought a step further.

I disagree. To me, it looks like you’ve said the most suspicious thing so far, and people are voting you unless/until someone does something more suspicious. Remember, just because someone is on a different side in an argument doesn’t mean they’re on a different side overall.

If I just wanted to win friends, ed I think I could have found a less risky and confrontational way.

I am aware that only death can confirm alignments and everything before is educated guessing, and I’m not thinking of MentalGuy as my buddy right or wrong. I agreed with him on one controversial issue, and my position on that hasn’t changed.

Of course my lack of experience might have led me wrong there, Natlaw, especially since the other game isn’t even over yet, so I’m definitely learning a lot now…

<Snipped> and <bleached>

So you and Adrian (Yo, Rocky, I love you) are working together.

Right, or did I mis parse this?

<Snipped>

Ok, this makes me nervous as all hell.

WTF, seriously. This is Day one.

Ok. I probably have a short shelf life anyways. What’s with the teaming up. If by claiming you hamstring your powers, then FCS don’t do it. But seriously if you all work together let’s see if we can spin it. Crap.

This is the most rational I’ve ever seen you Peeker, welcome to the game!

peeker, what?
MG said it looked like we are working together, and that we are both townies in his opinion.

And by closely aligned I meant aligned in current arguments and in public perception. Neither MG nor I have made a claim.
I have backed up one of his arguments, that his early post wasn’t a scum tell, but everything after that was just him agreeing with me on that, and what else would he do?

But seriously, if this your rational mode, I don’t want to see any other

Thanks, it’s nice to be home. And don’t take this wrong fellers and gallers. I play the way I play because that is what I do. Ain’t no agenda. And when/if it becomes sufficiently distracting then I will quit. I like to think that my sleuthing abilities are on par with others. But if I become a distraction that would be bad,

I still think that I contribute at the same or greater level than others.

Shoot, made peek get on the soapbox.

Oh, and I have to be the King of Fluff.

Well, we are working together to dispel the notion that my reading of the rule amendment implies some knowledge of information other than what is in the rules. In saying not to make anything of my absence, I was just saying not to assume that I was leaving someone else to argue my case for me.

As far as my comment that I believed we were working together on the town side, that was a bit over the top. Obviously, if he is scum I have no way of knowing, but I think if he is, he is playing it well. Trying to prevent the town from jumping on a perfectly reasonable statement as a scum tell is to me a pro-town move. So, absent any other evidence, I am definitely more likely to trust him than the ones who seemed to be trying to start a bandwagon against me.
