You know what sucks about getting to the endgame? I’m sitting here at work bored out of my mind. I’ve read all the games here and offsite, mafiascum is blocked, and the other places I’ve seen that play mafia use some really weird rules. Whoever the last scum is needs to get a move on so we can get started on the next Day.
(One of the sites I looked at appeared to have every game ran similar to Conspiracy, in that there were like a bazillion power roles running around. They also use shields, which apparently give everyone a percentage chance to dodge a night kill. The voting was weird too, there was almost no discussion about things, it looked like every single day was nearly random votes, when they weren’t voting no lynch, which they usually did the first 2-3 days. It was like everyone was just circle jerking each other while waiting for the detective type to win the game for them. The detective type was weird too. They never outted themselves directly. Instead the PM’d a third party and made them a surrogate to do the dirty work of announcing investigation results. Everyone just accepted the word of the surrogate too, which struck me as weird and just begging for scum to abuse, but they never did that I saw. Strange games indeed. So glad I play here.)
Yes, the SDMB mafia crew is considerably different than most other online mafia games. We tend to put a lot more time and energy into strategy and such. Many other groups play a lot more on traditional tells and gut reactions. I guess that’s just the nature of the Dope.
Huddling in the corner with ShadowFacts, BlasterMaster and pedescribe wondering who will be the first to have to take a leak or run out for a pack of squags before the sun rises and not being smart enough to take someone with them to watch their back.
