Mafia The Game III: Kinder and Gentler

I’m going to have to vote for fluiddruid as well, with Lightnin’ and CarrieD rounding out my scum trifecta.

I would also have been comfortable with having a closer vote-count between fluid and Lightnin’, but it doesn’t look like that is very likely, even if I cast my vote in Lightnin’s direction.

I’m on a bit of a deadline with a project right now–so of course I’m spending my time on the Dope rather than working–and I don’t have a lot of time to get into this, but I’m going to vote fluiddruid. I’d been very convinced of her innocence on the previous Day, but with Projammer coming up town and everything else, frankly, I’m doubting my own instincts here, aside from the fact that her defense seems to have gotten quite a bit weaker since that cagey role-claim of "vaguely pro-town.

I am acutely aware that if fluidruid is town most of our leads disappear. I’ll throw a few thoughts out here in case I don’t make it through the night.

I know that both I and Millet have been looking at the bottom half of the post count, but frankly there isn’t a lot to go on, for obvious reasons.

The only comment that keeps coming back to my mind is Omi no Kami’s comment about “taking sh!t from both sides.” P1242, which probably refers to getting jumped on by me, Millet and Blastermaster, but as he doesn’t know who is who or on what sides it just seems an odd phrasing.

Millet is coming across now as townie, which frankly has my paranoia meter going nuts. The same is true of Idle Thoughts, but as a veteran I’d expect him to regardless of actual affiliation (and if he is mafia we are really in trouble). Hal Briston comes up third on my chart, but that’s just voting patterns.

If fluiddruid isn’t the crumb then the town needs to remember who was. Its a 50/50 choice.

Updated Vote Count

11 – fluiddruid (Idle Thoughts, tirial, SnakesCatLady, Blaster Master, Omi No Kami, Millit the Frail, Lightnin’, Lemur866, Hal Briston, ComeToTheDarkSideWeHaveCookies, CaerieD)
1 – Lightnin’ (DiggitCamara)
1 – SnakesCatLady (fluiddruid)

It certainly seems as though fluiddruid has said all she intends to say in her defense, and as such I’m inclined to end the day early, given her essentially insurmountable vote tally and the vanishingly small likelihood that enough (if any) players will shift their votes away from her in the next eight hours to change the outcome. Does anyone have any strong objections to my doing so? fluiddruid, do you want the extra time to post an additional defense or any further thoughts? Is it generally worthwhile to allow time for those players who have not yet voted to weigh in?

That should’ve read “all sides”, but it’s actually correct as it stands; I figure everyone in the game has a healthy dose of paranoia, so I’ve likely been challenged by both mafia and town players by now.

I do:

Ending a day early is SCUM tell.

Personally I would say that its worth letting players who haven’t voted weigh in, to give the town info for the next day, but I’ll go with the concensus.

Of course that might be because now the moment of truth approaches I am absolutely terrified because I have a bad case of the “what if’s”, am overthinking everything and fighting the urge to hide under the desk rather than post.

Out of curiosity, who hasn’t voted? I make it nesta and Rachm Qoch.

Omi no kami that’s what I thought you meant - the problem with examining the posts of our less contributing posters is that by definition there’s not a lot of material to work with.

For the reasons I’ve previously stated, fluiddruid has been at the top of my scum list. I’m also wondering about Lemur866, CaerieD, and Lightnin’. Some of Lemur’s postions I find a bit peculiar; CaerieD’s rather profound swing concerning fluiddruid over the last two days without a clear explanation is troubling; and Lightnin seems to be more and more in bed with fluiddruid.

Especially after day three I’ve been hesitant to vote without giving the would-be recipient of my vote a chance to allay my concerns. But fluiddruid’s failure to answer my questions here and here about what I consider to be a serious kink in her defence leads me to conclude that I’m on the right track. Though it’s largely superfluous at this point, vote fluiddruid.

I’ve noticed I haven’t updated my FOS-list.

So, as a point in case I have an unfortunate accident during the night:

  1. If **fluiddruid ** is lynched and turns out to be mafia, my first FOS would be Lightnin’
  2. If **fluiddruid ** turns out to be a citizen, my FOS would be on Omi no Kami (the whole aggressive-defensive act smells like an act to make people back off from him, especially since he hasn’t even received a vote after day one)

Lemur866, if fluiddruid isn’t scum I’m going to be on a lot of FOS lists. I would be on my own if that were possible. This is the first time in the game I have been this certain about a player geing on the wrong side.

:smack: That would be “being on the wrong side.”

I’d prefer to see the day last as long as possible for us to gather as much information in the next few hours to go over during the Night. It doesn’t seem likely that there’s going to be any wild vote changes going on, but I’d prefer having that buffer all the same, especially since there is still debate going on.

Well, that’s all based on luck, I guess. The Doc can always protect themselves. So I don’t see how they can ever be taken out of the game other than a lynch. And the Night Watchman at least has a chance to always escape a night kill.

My main, original point was, though, to Lemur688, that I’d rather be killed off randomly (just like you said here) during night then be recruited if it was the case I was any of those. Again, my opinion only. I don’t speak for others.

Just seems to me that recruiting those roles you know are sure (or getting on lucky) would be better and more clever if one was scum.

By the way, is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling from this sudden rush of votes that the mafia just hung one of their own out to dry?

I know, I keep reviewing the evidence and it seems pretty certain, I just have what-if-itis right now.

You’re going to be on a lot of FOS lists?! I think I’d make the top of everyones!

And yes, I would like the day to go on as long as possible but this does mean it finishes at 2 a.m. my time, so I may stop posting in the later stages. (Who am I kidding, I’m not going to be getting any sleep anyway…)

I’m debating whether or not to unvote fluiddruid. Not that it would make a difference.

I thought I had explained this. fluidruid’s eleventh hour defense from Day 3 wasn’t particularly convincing, though I’d felt like Projammer was a better candidate at that point since I was still on the fence. Obviously, I was wrong about Projammer. Since I’ve been wrong a lot of times in the game so far, I’m being a little more critical about my gut instincts on players.

Stubbornly pursuing or defending the same people over and over again without reevaluating the facts isn’t going to help us. So, I reevaluated fluiddruid’s playing style, took into account that regardless of which one of them was the breadcrumb, Kyrie had been right about the roles of two different players, and figured chances were pretty good Kyrie may have been right about a third player, too. I doubt the Mafia wanted to kill the Detective, but kill someone who was simply good at guessing? Yeah, I can see that.

I don’t know what to believe in that case, but, if anything, I tend to sway a bit more toward worry. But that’s just because of the huge bandwagon.

It seems that she’ll get it no matter what, so one unvote won’t hurt. However if I unvote and she is scum, it probably wouldn’t look too good on me.

And I DO think she is scum. It’s just…I also have about an equal suspicion of CaerieD and a few others now.

Oh yes I do. And I not only keep track of who voted for who, but when they voted.

Regardless of your thoughts on fluiddruid, if you have any new suspicions/evidence please indicate them or leave pointers now. If you got nightkilled and didn’t leave information, that would be annoying (Ok, would drive me mad). And we need something to debate while we wait for the end of day.

The sudden bandwagon did have me curious rather than worried. With 12 votes, at least one of them was mafia. I find myself wondering if any of the later votes were mafia realising they didn’t manage to start a diversion and voting for camoflage.

Of course, this again relies on fluiddruid being scum. If he’s not, any thinking in that direction is wasted. (On preview, maybe not wasted - jumping on a townie bandwagon for camoflage is still possible.)

I totally agree on you with this; I think a few of the votes against fluiddruid have been cast by scum looking for cover. They managed to derail the vote against her once, and got another townie. Since they don’t think they can do it again they are trying to hide the crowd.

So remember, townies - if fluiddruid is lynched and turns out to be scum (which I am sure she will) - and I get killed during the long, long night, go back and look not just at who voted for her this time, but who voted for her last time. I think there will be some good information obtained from that.
