Game commentary:

Overall, I have to thank Darth Sensitive for playing the Boss. It was a rough role for a new player and I think we all owe Darth a big round of applause for staying under the radar this long. Sadly, Darth had some very rotten luck when it came to recruitments; out of three attempted recruitments, one was blocked by the Doctor, and another was blocked by a Priest who had been converted the previous Night!

It was really a great spectator’s game overall, and very exciting, so thank you to all of you lurkers who watched and commented.

I think the brevity of the game was entirely my fault, the ruleset was not balanced, but I appreciate everyone taking the time to play in this round. It was extremely helpful for me to understand the dynamics of a recruitment game better and I plan to run another round after I have taken the time to review everything and revise the rules. I am working on a different ruleset, as well (involving items) so I might run that one next.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone that played!

Please, let me know of your questions, comments and concerns about the game and the ruleset. I’m all ears.

HOLY CRAP!

Go town!!!

Hey, I was on the winning team! Winning feels good.

NICE WORK PEOPLE!

Darth, you did a fine job as boss, the cards were stacked against you and you still almost got away with it.

Fun game fluid. I wanted to shoot myself…and others…at times, but all in all it was a great way to break in the game room.

Now, Hal you still want to start that newbie game, cause USCdiver and I have been talking about a game that I would think works best as a vets only game?

Can’t we run two games at once?

WOOOO! Fun game! Kudos to Darth, must’ve been tough.

I don’t think we should overload with games, but if we are going to do a newbie only game, I think it is only fair that we give the vets a place to play too.

Now that we have a new forum, I have no problem with simultaneous Mafia games - I just hope you can find enough players (it was hard enough keeping this game staffed). As far as I know, the offboard game(s?) are still going on.

Holy shit there were only two of them? I’m stunned.

I came >< this close to switching my vote from Blaster to Darth at the end of the day. WTG Hazel…your scum sniffer is spot on!

I am too! I’m also going to have to go back and figure out why I gave off such a scummy vibe. I was originally trying to act trustworthy, so the Boss might waste a recruitment on me. Oh well. Bet I wasn’t pegged as a Priest by very many.

Yay Us!

Good game, Darth.

If I had survived, I would have been capo-ing.

Thought about MtF, but wouldn’t have as due to suspicion.

HNC was in serious contention. Massive townie cred (and maybe a hint of vindictiveness? [didn’t think about it, but looking back, it might have been])

Or someone else semi above suspicion.

Good game to the town. Especially that dang bishop and self protecting doctor.

The problem with my “lynch those who keep their noses clean” theory is that it tends to apply to power roles as well. As a Mason, I felt like I could be pretty aggressive and get away with it because I was confirmable.

Looking back on player list, most of the people I suspected for being too bland was a power role, or became a power role at some point.

Good game, everyone.

Wow, nice to see the starting roles and know that most of my reads were good. FWIW, HazelNutCoffee, your Masoness was glaring… whether or not it’s a good thing, I don’t know. And yes, Drain Bead and Pleonast, I did figure he was the Bishop. I really would have thought Menocchio would have been protecting Drain Bead to make sure her results would be useful. In hindsight, we really should have just gone with the gut. Chances are, I would have gotten lynched, the scum would have another recruit Tonight, and both would be relatively unnoticed.

Oh well, as Fluid stated, it was just a string of bad luck… pretty much worst thing that could possibly happen each time.

Holy crap…now there’s a surprise ending! Glad you chose not to drag things out, BM.

Well, I had back-burnered it A) because this one seemed far from over, and B) because the off-board game has been so frantic. However, since we have the go-ahead for multiple games, yes, I think I’m going to put Newbie Mafia together (riding on there being enough players, that is) while you get your vets game going. It’ll take a few days for me to get everything together, but I’ll kick things into gear.

Whoa, only 2? That sucks Darth.

FWIW, it’s an interesting tell to find people who don’t want to get noticed but, as you point out, it’s just as likely to hit a pro-town person as it is scum. According to my pseudo-random theory, a list like that is likely to have a proportional number of scum to the general population. Instead, I think a list like that is probably better kept to oneself and then you can individually interpret each person’s motives to see if you think they’re a likely power role or scum.

:smack: That explains why there was no desperate ploy by the recruits. There weren’t any recruits.

Wow, that was a bit of a surprise. I expected to come back in a read a lot of Nighttime blathering.

FYI, in case you had forgotten and since it isn’t on the list, I had taken over Diomedes’ Mason role.

And I was dead set positive that Hawkeyeop was Scum and probably the Boss, but at the same time I thought everyone was freaking CRAZY going after Darth so hard. Tough luck only getting one recruitment to go through.

Wow. I came back to check the thread, saw [Game Finished] and about had a heart attack.

Can’t wait to read the Forbidden Thread to see how much I got lambasted over the last few days.

I guessed we had two remaining scum, BlaM and Hawkeyeop, because both seemed so desperate to discredit me.
