Magic: the Gathering -- The more things change...

Ah, yes, multiplayer, the land of “let’s you and him fight”.

One of my fonder memories of a multiplayer game: There were four of us. Player 3 figured he had a great combo: Inferno to clear the board, then Ressurrect his Shivan Dragon to play on an empty playground. He overlooked that I had a Night Soil. His dragon, along with everything else that got nuked, found itself fertilizing a whole bunch of little fungus babies.

I don’t play anymore but I still buy 4 or 5 packs with every new expansion. I mostly just keep them for fun, though occasionally I’ll go out and get a specific card because I like the art or the uniqueness of the abilities. I have a thing for Planeswalkers and powerful black creatures.

My favorite decks has always been the Blue permission deck followed by a black resurrection deck, though I had giddy fun with a black/red land destruction deck too. I still have all my old cards but they are not nearly in mint condition. Nothing too expensive though, “old” cards date to Ice Age and everything else before then were cheap stuff given to me by friends. Looking forward to getting a few packs of Born of the Gods this weekend!

Those were the days . . .

Three of the guys we played with were real serious, big money spending, heavily invested players. The rest of us not so much. After awhile I just liked to screw around in the huge multiplayer games. Snake Pit was good for at least 5 weanies a round. Then clean up with Fallen Angel. (Don’t like the new picture as much).

The key was to keep a low profile as they boasted and tromped eachother. Then as the dust was settling I’d still have about 20 life, 50 1/1 snakes, 3 Fallen Angel, and some zombies.

Takklemaggot would make thing fun with revenge targeting too.

Good times, good times.
