I’m trying to get a gift for my brother. He’s become really interested in magic tricks as a hobby, and recently got membership at some Magic Castle in Los Angeles. Anyhow, I want to find him a book. I know he really likes card tricks, but it doesn’t have to be a card tricks book. I’m assuming he’s pretty good at it (I live on Florida, so I don’t see him often), so I’d prefer a more advanced book. Any suggestions?
Any one of the following would be a great gift for him:
**Any volume of the “Tarbell Course in Magic”. There are 8 volumes and any one of them would be a great resource. The series is considered the “Bible” of the magical arts.
“The Royal Road to Card Magic” by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braun. A classic for card magicians.
“Modern Coin Magic” by Bobo, considered the best publication for coin magic.
“Mastering the Art of Magic” by Eugene Burger, a compilation of many of his early publications. Excellent material!**
You can also go online to many magical resources for more info. I’d suggest http://allmagic.com/allmagicguide/index.html as a good starting point.
Hope this list helps.
Probably a little late. But for Archive’s sake. Ill say Mark Wilsons complete course in magic. Its big, its heavy, its hardcover. Its got the basics of everything, and reduces it to the rediculously easy. It also takes things to a fairly advanced level. Its really worth checking out.
Hmm, anymore “its”?
