Card tricks; I want to learn some...

I would like to learn some card tricks, and decent ones, not simple ones (not that I know what a ‘simple card trick’ is). Does anyone know any, or know of any resources on the web for particularly fascinating card tricks (ones that aren’t very hard to execute preferably).

Thanks!

All card tricks are simple once you know how they are done.
It is the presentation that makes the card tricks seem great.
Check your library for books on magic and card tricks. My favorite
is “Encyclopedia of Card Tricks.” by Dover Press.

You could say, “I will magically pull your card from this deck.”
or, “I have actually been photographed by high speed cameras
showing my fingers counting the cards until I reach your card,
which I see by my trained eye you have put in this deck 22 cards
deep.” In both cases you pick the duplicate card from the top
of a trick deck.

I have seen simple card tricks on TV that were presented
well.

Hi Tokes. There are no resources on the web that will teach you good card tricks and how to perform and present them.

This is not an accident.

However, via the web you can find magic dealers who will, in turn, sell very good books and videos that will teach you the right material and how to perform it. To find a good magic dealer near you, your favourite search engine is your friend.

Top recommendations:

‘Easy To Master Card Miracles’ by Michael Ammar. Series of 6 videos. Ammar is the best teacher there is. Start with Vol. 1 and buy as many more as your appetite and funds allow.

‘Royal Road to Card Magic’ by Hugard And Braue. Book. The bible for anyone wishing to build up a good knowledge of card magic.

‘The Card College’ series of books. Very good for anyone wishing to take their interest from beginner to intermediate, and some advanced stuff.

The series of books concerning the magic of Dai Vernon, published by Lewis Ganson, are also considered very highly by card enthusiasts.

‘The Art of Astonishment’ by Paul Harris, books, 3 volumes, wonderful modern material covering cards and other close-up magic. Brilliant. Harris also does videos, but the books are better until you’ve built up your experience.

That’s enough to be going on with. You will also find lots of good help at www.themagiccafe.com but don’t think you can just go there and start asking for lots of secrets or how stuff is done… magicians don’t take well to that. Always remember, practice and experience are your best teachers. Good luck.

They carry a book by Karl Frueves (don’t quote me on the last name) but he has put out 3 books of ‘self-working’ card tricks. Most of them are quite easy and my favorite is in there. It is impressive as hell visually. It really blows peoples minds when I do it. Good luck

I was actually referring to card tricks that can be done with a ‘standard deck’ when I said ‘simple card trick’, but yeah. Also, I’d prefer to not have to buy stuff, because I don’t have much money at the moment.
