Magical fry pan. Magical sky being. Is there a difference?
I assume.
Why yes.
Magical Sky Beings are not real.

Besides a kitchen gadgets thread it also fits into those ‘what’s ostensibly overpriced but totally worth it’ threads.
There’s a $195 enamel cast iron that probably functions the same. You can get a $40 Lodge (or a $5 Lodge at a tag sale) and get all the benefits of cast iron.
But then you have smile sweetly at your well-meaning in-laws when they WASH YOUR PERFECTLY SEASONED DECADES OLD CAST IRON.
But really, as easy as cast iron is to clean, this thing is much easier. And it doesn’t take on or impart any flavour of its own. It also crushes walnuts, thwocks intruders and plays a mean harmonica.
The super pan is not magical. It will burn you.
At least your hand won’t stick.
Perhaps, just perhaps, as a vague possibility, perhaps the magical fry pan isn’t magical.
But, what kind of bonuses does that magical fry pan have?
A +3 to hit? Or a +2 to damage?
Or improved Attack of Opportunity chances?
If it’s the one the Halfling carried, +75 to Cooking (halflings only).
Fucker went and got killed too far down into the dwarven ruins to bother going back up. Going back to rations was truly painful!
I have non-stick and cast iron, because they each do certain things better than the other. I buy my non-stick at restaurant supply stores. I buy 5 to get a quantity discount. Then I’m set for the next 8-10 years.
Also stainless steel. Mrs. L.A. (and I, for that matter) grew up with thin, one-ply stainless steel pans until the Miracle of Teflon. Since I like to cook, I splurged on a set of Calphalon tri-ply stainless steel cookware. Mrs. L.A. is amazed at how easy they are to clean even if they get scorched. (Kitchen Hint: Use lower heat with stainless steel.)
I get the Calphalon Contemporary non-stick frying pans. They work very well, but they do wear out. (Especially before the Missus learned to turn the heat down.) I put the 10" pan out by the telephone pole after she burnt it, and after continuing to use it for about a year. Someone else is using it now. The 12" pan has a small scorched bit and it’s still in use after six or seven years. I have the ‘back-up’ 12" that came with the replacement 10", so I’m set up there for years. I think I’ll buy another pair of frying pans soon so that I’ll have a new 12", an new 10", and a 12" that’s only been used a coupe of times.
I bought a cheap pair of non-stick frying pans specifically for omelettes and crêpes. They ended up being used for other things as well. They’re not exactly worn out, but they’re cheap and tend to warp on the stove even though I don’t let them get that hot.
For some reason, I hear this as spoken in the voice of Morgan Freeman… :dubious: :o
Bought one of the green pans about two years ago, at first is was quite non-stick. then one day, I fried some bacon in it, and bam, couldn’t clean it off. Made a nice clang when I threw it out. I have a few cast iron pans, and they get better every time I use them. I also have an all clad wok, that I have had in heavy use for about ten years. Spider-man couldn’t stick to it.
