Mail Order Cigars

I would appreciate recommendations as to sources for mail order cigars from people who have used those sources. Google gives me many hits and some of them have nice web pages, etc., etc. However, nice web pages don’t mean squat nor do they tell you anything genuine about quality of merchandise or customer service. I’d much prefer to hear from people with actual experience with actual vendors.

I’ rather not be lectured about why I shouldn’t start smoking cigars after a fifteen year period of not smoking but if you gotta, you gotta. I’m gonna do it anyway.

No cigar smokers on the SDMB?

There are a few. Check your PM inbox.

I’ve ordered from JR’s. His “alternative” line is pretty close to the real thing at less cost. The JR Ultimate is my favorite. The best part is the catalog. A fun read…

I order from https://www.cigarsinternational.com/ and http://www.coronacigar.com/, good prices and good selection in both.

I’ve used http://www.bestcigarprices.com/ several times. They deliver quickly and I haven’t had a problem with any of their cigars. Usually pretty good prices too. Some of their sampler packs are really good. The only thing you have to watch out for are their house-brand cigars. They aren’t bad (especially for the money) but they’ll put some in their samplers to keep the price down. They have a pretty generous return policy as well.

Thompson Cigar was my favorite. Usually some cool freebies come with your order.

I’ve never ordered from them online but I live near Cigars International and shop there. It’s not a rinky-dink backroom operation; the store is huge, incredible variety, and the entire building is a humidor.

When I asked how they can operate such a big place in a small city the guy told me that most of their business is done online.

Thanks for the inputs and the URLs; I’ll check them out ASAP. I knew I could count on you guys and I hope you’ll keep the info coming. I’m old enough that I was able to smoke real, live Cuban cigars every now and then even if I was too young to really appreciate them. The last time I really got into cigars I found some Honduran cigars I really liked; too bad I’ve forgotten their names. There used to be a couple of places in Ybor City that would roll cigars for you while you watched; I’ll have to see if anyone still does that.

I know I shouldn’t start smoking again but it’s already too late to worry; I’m pretty much hooked all over again.

I did and I thank you; your recommendations look good.

You’re quite welcome! By the way, you may want to check your PM inbox again; there is another message there.

I can second this, I also had a very good experience with their customer service on a return. Lightening fast and they took good care of me. I am quite pleased with them.

Smokingpipes.com is the gold standard for me.

You know, I just noticed in my OP I mentioned mail order cigars instead of online cigars. Did anyone think that was strange? Or did anyone even notice? Does anyone even use the term mail order anymore? God I’m getting old.

Thanks, though, for the inputs; I’ll get this internet stuff figured out someday unless it turns out to just be a temporary fad.

I have a friend with a cigar youtube channel and he likes it.

Ignoring that this is probably a spambot resurrected zombie ------- Cigars International is my current go-to when I want to mail order. Thompson the last few years has burned me too bad with bad quality/poorly stored and handled stuff and made my do-not-use list. I don’t do mail order all that much; part of what I enjoy about cigars is the fellowship some of the shops have. But CI ------- some of the deals are just too good for those fishing/hunting/goofing around smokes.
