Major accident on the Spaulding Turnpike in New Hampshire (Dover tollbooth)

A tractor trailer plowed through the Dover tollbooth about a half hour ago, the Spaulding is down to 1 lane, thank Og it was just the EZPass lane!, if the trucker had struck an occupied booth, there’d be nothing left of the attendant

I’m wondering how fast the trucker was going, the photo of the crashed rig shows it with the front wheels MISSING, gone, not there, it’s resting on the nose and remainders of the front fenders…

how much force would have been required to remove the front axle and wheels?

…glad I don’t have to travel the Spaulding…

Someone takes the state motto very, very literally.

“Hi, I’m in Delaware!”?

Dover, New Hampshire. Not Delaware. :stuck_out_tongue:

About 32 years ago, a tractor-trailer slammed into multiple cars at a tollbooth in Stamford, Connecticut. Six people died and four were injured. It was after this accident (and some others) that Connecticut eliminated tolls statewide.

Just yesterday, going through a tollbooth (I used the New York Thruway, Ohio Turnpike, and Indiana Toll Road) I wondered if anyone fell asleep or zoned out or whatever and just plowed through a toll booth.

Well… I guess so.

I was involved (tail end, no damage or injuries in my car) in a 60 car pile up just south of there between exits 3 and 4 a few years ago. There’s plenty to worry about besides the toll booths. But that toll booth also has two 60 MPH Fast Pass lanes separated from the rest of traffic that makes life much easier.

You’re thinking of the Hampton toll on I-95. This is on the Spaulding pike. Film clip on local news is quite impressive. Rig must have been going 60+ and never touched the brakes.

My crash was on I-93, south of Manchester. I misread the thread title.
