Major Appliances from my birthday

My birthday is coming up on Saturday, and unfortunately, two days ago my washer decided to withdrawl on it’s responsibility of washing my clothing. Of course, I spent hours online trying to figure out why it wasn’t agitating my clothing, but to no avail. (I wasn’t about to tear it apart–I was hoping the answer would be something simple as “Push this button to reset.”, but no such luck.) Of course, I didn’t have the funds to call out a repair technician to look at my washer and give me an estimate to fix it that would have been almost as much as a new one.

So, my mom called yesterday, wanting to come and deliver her Christmas presents to Hallboy and I. Of course, I said yes (I got warm and comfy pajamas, which I needed), and while she was here, we went shopping for a washer. “Let’s go to Home Depot,” she said. I asked if she, the Coupon Queen, had a coupon for Home Depot. It seemed that she didn’t have coupon, but did have a HD charge card, which she volunteered to use to buy me a washer (with a five year warantee!) for my birthday, even though I told her it wasn’t necessary, that I planned on buying one anyway! It’s being delivered on Friday (the day before my birthday!!!). I’m so excited (of course, we’ll have a ton of laundry by then, but that’s okay.)

A few years ago, she bought me a new refridgerator and a deep freezer for my birthday. Major appliance for a birthday present are good!

My parents gave each other a freezer for Christmas. (Purchased a month or two ago–why wait for Christmas if you can use it now?) It is not the first time that little or nothing appeared under the tree for either of them from the other, but somewhere in the house was some moderately expensive joint present. (I think the last one was a wood floor for the dining room).

Fortunately for them, the freezer was not purchased in response to a freezer ceasing to function.
