Making mp3 copies of DVD soundtracks

I would like to make mp3 copies of the soundtracks of my favourite DVDs. There are a lot of programs out there claiming to do this but - from what I have seen, having run a Google search - only as a part of something else.

Might anyone recommend dedicated audio software that copies DVD soundtracks? Likely budget $30-$40.

Thank you, in anticipation.

Dedicated software? I don’t think it exists - most people don’t want to just “listen” to a movie. It would be one thing if you could easily isolate just the music, but with the dialog mixed in…

Oh well. You can use DVDSmartRipper or DVDDecrypter to rip the files and then use DVD2AVI to extract the audio to a WAV file, which you could then encode with your favorite MP3 encoder. All of the programs listed above are free.

Have you tried the audio converter at River Past? They have a demo which limits you to 2mins, but you can try it and see if it fits your needs.

Thank you Rex Fenestrarum. I have downloaded DVD SmartRipper and DVD2AVI and I will give it a go. Can’t fault the budget, eh?

(I do a lot of travelling and enjoy listening to my favorite movies along the way.)

Thank you peterW, I’m looking at riverpast.com right now. It says “DVD to MP3” and looks good, within budget.

Much obliged for the detail I’ve received.

If you use smartripper, you should try vob2audio. It will convert your audi track to a giant .wav file.

I’ve used it several times and it works like a charm.
