Congratulations! Are you still doing that transcranial magnetic therapy thing? Good way to have a superhero…
What with you mixing up the DNA to create a new human being and all, I think we should call you Splice Weasel. Yes, you had help, but you’re the production facility.
WooHoo!
You’re going to be a GREAT Mom!
My SIL had really bad nausea, and so did one of my friends. They tried everything and NOTHING helped. Maybe some pills helped a little bit. Ginger chews from Trader Joe’s might be handy.
But they both went on to have second kids and have second bouts of nausea and they have no regrets
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wonderful news!!! I hope the nausea subsides immediately!
Which reminds me, make sure your doctor knows you work with non-human primates. IANAD, but aren’t there diseases we share with the other apes? You shouldn’t be cleaning the cat box now, fer crying out loud.
Sorry to be a downer. Happier POV - I’ve been through hell and back for my kids. I’m Mama Zappa’s husband. Her autistic kid is also mine. We also have a daughter with ADHD and emotional control issues. Despite that, having kids is, IMNAHHO, totally worth it. We have the best teens in the world!
Hang in there, and big congrats to the Spice family!!
Congratulations dear.
I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy.
So all those apes and such at work…built in baby sitters?
Congrats! And here’s hoping for the pet lizard.
congrats!
Congratulations!
I remember how exhausted my wife was in early pregnancy.
I hope everything goes well!
Congratulations and all the best for an uneventful pregnancy!
Don’t get too fixated on the morning sickness going away in six weeks. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. I had 30 weeks of morning sickness (it took a break in the middle), and the hardest part was getting over my disappointment when it didn’t go away in week 12. Lesson learned and passed along: it will go when it goes and not a moment before
Congratulations, might cheer you up to know that I heard recently mothers who suffer from morning sickness go on to have healthier babies! Woo woo!
Congratulations!!!
I also had bad morning sickness while I was pregnant. I had it for 25 weeks. And I didn’t get help at first because I wasn’t throwing up. I learned two things from that experience. One, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Ask for help from your doctor if you are miserable. Two, blue Unisom (doxylamine) at night and half a B6 in the morning allowed me to function. It took out most of the nausea and allowed me to eat food while also helping me sleep. I will note that it gave me the worst dry mouth but you are supposed to drink more water anyway.
I will so second what Bootsy said. Expectant moms with bad morning sickness are less likely to miscarry as well.
Hooray!
And here’s hoping the nausea passes soon.
What’s wrong with Spice Kit?
Congratulations! What wonderful news!
Congratulations! I love it when the SDMB reproduces.
Congratulations Spice Weasel!!!
True. That, and nine months from now, you can’t have us all singing nursery rhymes…
Congrats on Little Weasel!
Pregnancy sucks then it’s all over. You can probably safely ignore 99% of the advice in most of the books because as long as you don’t do anything stupid, the baby will be just fine. If anything doesn’t feel right, call your doctor because it may be nothing, or it may be serious. With pregnancy, it’s rarely in the middle.
What helped me with the morning sickness was sugar-sweetened soda. The sugar coated my stomach, which kept the upset down to a minimum, and the carbonation made me burp, which seemed to help with the nausea. Salty foods like chicken broth helped, too.
Wonderful news, congratulations!!
Congratulations :).
