Male dopers; Are you circumsized?

I admit. I did not understand was circumcision was until I became an adult. I thought a foreskin was just loose skin. I didn’t look at other people’s junk and those that I saw were appropriately bald. It wasn’t until I saw European porno, did I understand what being uncircumcised was. I didn’t miss it because I never knew there was something to miss.

I’m cut and would have any son of mine cut as well.

To those who would have their sons circumsized as infants what would you say him if when he got older (say teen years) and started questioning your decision? What if he wanted foreskin restoration surgery? And to those who woundn’t have their son circumsized as an infant what would you do if when he got older he started asking for one?

Let me check. Yes.
(OK, I know I didn’t have to check, I just like playing with it)

Are you circumsized? yes
If so who old were you when it happened (infant, child, teen, adult)? infant - a few days old
Was it your choice? YES! (duh)
Why were you circumsized (religion, tradition, medical, etc)? I’m not sure really. I never asked my parents.
Do you regret or resent your circumcision? No
Would you have your son circumsized? I wouldn’t care one way or the other. I think I’d let the mother decide.
If so would you have it done while he was an infant or would you wait until he could make his own choice? If we did decide to do it, I’d have it done young so he doesn’t remember the time his parents cut off part of his dangly-doodle.

Having said that, many of the women I’ve been with say they like the look of my cock. My wife quite enjoys it. It works well, does its job, and enjoys doing it. I guess I can’t complain.

Tough shit.

You want it, you pay for it. No huhu.

Are you circumsized? Yes
If so who old were you when it happened? Infant
Why were you circumsized? Father was, so I guess like father like son.
Do you regret or resent your circumcision? Nope.
Would you have your son circumsized? Absolutely.
If so would you have it done while he was an infant or would you wait until he could make his own choice? As an infant so he doesn’t remember it.

Snuffalupagus and I are completely intact, thankyewverymuch.

  1. Yes
  2. Infant
  3. No
  4. Tradition, I believe.
  5. No.
6 & 7 are irrelevant, as I am not planning on having children.

Are you circumsized? No.
If so who old were you when it happened (infant, child, teen, adult)? n/a
Was it your choice? n/a
Why were you circumsized (religion, tradition, medical, etc)? n/a
Do you regret or resent your circumcision? n/a
Would you have your son circumsized? Only if the mother were Jewish and felt strongly about it.
If so would you have it done while he was an infant or would you wait until he could make his own choice? n/a

Interestingly, I was UNcut for more or less religious reasons. My father is ethnically Jewish, so he always saw it as a religious ritual. Since he is an atheist, he saw no reason to practice a ritual he disbelieved in. My mother would, I believe, have gone along with the medical custom at the time of having it done, but she deferred to my father, having no strong feeling about it herself. Knowing my dad, I imagine he did some research into the supposed medical benefits, but he clearly didn’t think it was worth it.

I’ve never wished I were circumcised, and although I was made fun of as a kid for my weight, intelligence, appearance, accent, hair, vocabulary, religion, name, and anything else the other kids could make fun of, I’ve never been made fun of or received any negative comment about my penis. And being different from my dad was no big deal either. I mean, his was big and hairy–that was far more noticeable and required a more complicated explanation. But no kid’s ever been traumatized by that.

Are you circumsized?
Yep!

If so who old were you when it happened (infant, child, teen, adult)?
Infant

Was it your choice?
Nope!

Why were you circumsized (religion, tradition, medical, etc)?
no idea, I think they were doing all male babies back then.

Do you regret or resent your circumcision?
Nope!

Would you have your son circumsized?
I did.

If so would you have it done while he was an infant or would you wait until he could make his own choice?
As an Infant.

Are you circumsized? Yes
If so who old were you when it happened? Infant
Why were you circumsized? Hospital perk. I think my parents got a free breakfast, or something.
Do you regret or resent your circumcision? I didn’t until you mentioned it. Why are you making me resent my father? Next thing you’ll say he’s sleeping with my mom!
Would you have your son circumsized? Sure thing. I’m sure he deserves it, the little bastard.
If so would you have it done while he was an infant or would you wait until he could make his own choice? If I gave him a choice, I’m not sure I could get away with it.

Of all of my decisions that my teenager would question, I think this one would have to be last on the list. But if he did, I’d explain why I did it (see above) and I’d lovingly let him know that when turns 18, he should feel free as a bird to go get some extra skin attached to his Johnson.

Are you circumsized?
Yes. I didn’t realize this for years. I was always puzzled by the dictionary definitions of “circumcized” and “foreskin” – I couldn’t figure out what was cut off. It all looked essential. Until I stumbled across a medicval dictionary with drawings of the procedure. It was then that I realizede that I, and everyone I knew (or saw in the showers) already had been circumcized.

If so who old were you when it happened (infant, child, teen, adult)?
Infant

Was it your choice?
Nope!

Why were you circumsized (religion, tradition, medical, etc)?
They were doing all male babies back then – it was common practice. I’m not sure why, although the fact that penile cancer was virtually unknown among circumcized males was spoken of when I was older, and that may have been the rationale when I was done.

Do you regret or resent your circumcision?
Not strongly, but I’m curious how it would have felt without the operation.

Would you have your son circumsized?
No. The infinitesimal advantage for cancer (and now, for HIV) is , to my mind, not worth the conscious mutilation

If so would you have it done while he was an infant or would you wait until he could make his own choice?
Irrelevant

I’d think I’d done a pretty good job of raising him to that point if the only compalint about his rearing was having the commonly done tallywhacker snip. I’d worry more about that fixation with the look of the tackle than anything else. To me it would suggest an unhealthy thought process on the attitudes I would have tried to instill in how one feels about the qualities of ones junk i.e. “You get what you got, as long as it works you’re golden”.

I don’t care WHAT you want to do with it. I’d hope you do the same things that Dad does, but really, it’s yours to do with what you will. Want to pierce it, tattoo it, restore it, etc that’s your choice. I don’t really want to hear about it though. Go tell your mother.

No snip-snip for this guy.
If I had had a son he wouldn’t have been either.

Can I ask why you want to know? I think that if I knew why you were interested, I might feel like sharing. I’m not trying to be contentious. I want to fight ignorance as much as the next doper, but usually someone has to buy me a drink first before I disclose this information.

I am uncircumcised (the correct spelling in both Commonwealth and American English, incidentally – the ending is -cise, meaning to cut, as in incisor, not -ize) and I prefer it this way.

As circumcision is apparently far more common in the US than in Canada, my status has been the object of interest of more than one American paramour. Some guys really get off on it.

Irrelevant trivia but I’ll mention it anyway: the bloodiest event in the history of Israel occurred when the Emperor Hadrian banned the practice as a revolting barbaric and aesthetically displeasing (Harian had a definite aesthete where penii were concerned) practice. Speaking of revolting, the Jews and even some Arab tribes that also practiced circumcision revolted and the result was the bar Kokhba Revolt. It lasted for three years resulting in the deaths of many Roman soldiers and a brief Roman evacuation of Israel, after which Rome returned in greater numbers and crushed the rebellion.

In addition so many captives were sold into slavery that the slave market briefly crashed in the Meditteranean due to over supply.

[George Bluth]And THAT’S why you don’t try to tell people not to circumcise their sons…[/George Bluth]

  1. snip
  2. Infant
  3. I tried voicing my opinion after the fact, but my slightly limited vocabulary failed to get the point across.
  4. Turtlenecks were considered fashionably gauche at the time.
  5. Nope. It appreciates the unobstructed view.
  6. Probably.
  7. Infant. There are very few people with the wherewithal required to make such a decision when they’re old enough to appreciate the short-term consequences of taking a sharp implement to their dick.
  8. Why does Firefox not recognize “circumsized” as a valid word? I think I need to introduce it to a Mohel, because it doesn’t know what one of those is, either.
