I want to make movies. I want to make movies and I have wanted to for some time! I also don’t have loads of money. Well, I spent $700 on a hitachi dvd-camcorder and then my husband spent another $80 on “video explosion deluxe” so that I can edit my movies. The program appears to work fine, just not with “.vro” files. Which is the exact type of file my camera creates. What is a .vro file?? All I find about it online are people complaining about the same problem I am having, which is that when you transfer your data onto a computer, you only get one scene. Meaning, if I shot 30 minutes of footage total but not in one recording session, I can only see whatever was recorded before I stopped my camera the first time. All the other “scenes” are corrupted. According to what I’ve tried, renaming the file as an .mpg or .avi doesn’t work.
Do you know how irritating this is? It seems that in order for me to make movies, I will have to film for like 5 minutes, then stop, come home, and spend the next 20 minutes or so transferring that data onto my computer, then go back out and film again. And so on. There has to be a better way, but what?
Thanks. I just finished calling hitachi** and they told me that I can’t use my camera with my software because they have SPECIAL hitachi endorsed software for my camera. Information on my camera model online seems few and far between as well! It seems I should not have taken my husband’s advice and gotten the new fancy kind, because nothing works with it. Now I will have to pay him back the $80 for my own birthday present because I can’t use this software and it obviously can’t eb returned once opened. : (
** Calling Hitachi was another headache alltogether. Because of the stupid security they put on my phone lines, calling 800 #s with touchtone/voice menus (“press or say 1”) never works. I had to look up online and eventually find the number for Hitachi’s laptop support center and have them transfer me. URRGGHHH!!! It would be cool if I could just call any of hitachi’s japanese numbers, but I have an AMERICAN camera purchased with AMERICAN dollars and an AMERICAN zip code!! The joys of being in America while not physically in America!
