I understand that you haven’t defended torture in this thread.
Good for you.
But I never accused you of being a torture defender. I accused you of being disingenous about your certainty that Zaidi hadn’t been tortured. Because, as you know, lots of people in US custody have been tortured. I’m glad you refrain from defending such torture, but your lack of defense of torture doesn’t mean that the torture didn’t happen. It did happen, you know it, I know it, the American people know it.
Since you and I know that all sorts of people who found themselves in US custody in Iraq ended up tortured regardless of their guilt or innocence, it shouldn’t be absurd to wonder if reports that Zaidi also ended up tortured turn out to be true. Because when a guy ends up in an Iraqi prison, or an American prison in Iraq, he might easily be tortured, because that frequently happens in those prisons. Even if such torture would be extremely embarassing to the United States given the high profile of the Zaidi case. All it would take is for the prison bigwigs to assume that the guards are smart enough to know to keep their hands off the guy when the guards aren’t that smart.
Illustrating once again that, like Joe the Plumber, you don’t always have to actually do anything worthy of notice to get your Fifteen Minutes; you could be a victim/beneficiary of Collateral Coverage.
Well pfui. “In Turkish and English,” indeed. Even the English is mostly Turkish. Hey Baydan-Ducati! Use your newfound international notoriety as an opportunity to improve your site, why don’t you!
Dammit, I wanted to know how much a pair of Model 271’s are going for. In dollars, not euros or drachmas or rupees or whatever the hell they use for currency in Turkey.
