I’m 29 and these were popular when I was in middle school.
Makes sense - it seems like all the stuff I liked when I was a kid is becoming popular again, probably to appeal to the generation that’s having kids right now. Strawberry Shortcake, Holly Hobby, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, My Little Pony, etc. I haven’t seen pogs myself yet, though.
*Drop *the restraining order? Man, with the money and power you’ll have, you can tear it up in front of the judge’s face! And he’ll love it, too. The cops will come and arrest *her *for being an inconvenience to you!
If you guys were smart, you would’ve gotten in on those Webkinz. Those were the hit when I was still teaching day care. Good God, parents would sell the farm to get their hands on those things.
I think it was about 1994 when my friend’s nephew was dumping his pog collection. I asked him why, and he pointed out, “They don’t really do anything.” I think that pretty much summed it up.
I LOVED those things! My brothers and I would collect and play with those things all freaking day long! That’s it. I’m digging out my Hardee’s space shuttle Pog holder…
I work in an elementary school and I have yet to see Pogs return. As a few others have mentioned, I have seen a lot of kids wearing those shaped rubber bands. Since I am 43 years old, I am still waiting for the return to popularity of Duncan Spin Tops.
I was reading a book about the Simpsons history and in one episode, Bart sells his soul to Milhouse who trades it for some Alf pogs.
Milhouse) Remember Alf? He’s back in pog form.
Anyway the writers of that episode said they thought the joke would be especially funny since by the time they wrote it and the eight months it took to animate and get it on the air, pogs went out of fashion quickly and few people heard of them.
