Mancunian accent: Oh, oh, I've developed a bias

A while ago, someone recommended the British sit-com Lunch Monkeys, which is about a bunch of mailroom workers at a law firm in Manchester. I watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am also a big fan of the Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant/Karl Pilkington podcasts.

Prior to experiencing these programs, I had never met a Mancunian in real life and can’t recall any other significant exposure to the Mancunian accent.

I have recently realized that I have now developed a significant bias – now, whenever I hear this accent or something similar, I immediately think “what a moron.”

Am I the only one?
