Manhattan Prosecutors file criminal charges for Trump re Stormy Daniels case - ongoing discussion here (Guilty on all 34 counts, May 30, 2024)

With his ‘relaxed’ demeaner - has he been spoiled? do the attorneys know in advance?

This is great!

I have to take my daughter to soccer right now, so I’m going to likely miss the reading of the verdicts though.

ETA: Nope, my wife’s taking her. Time to turn on NBC!

I’m sure he thinks (or maybe even knows) the fix is in

Andrew Weissmann says it’s unlikely that anyone but the jury knows at this moment.

I guess the take-out food wasn’t all that good.

LOL, guess not.

A hung jury is out the window at this point, right?

It’s the final of Taskmaster right now. Can they delay another 10 mins or so?

A hung jury would mean no verdict.

True. It’s either guilty or not guilty, and it can be a mix as to the charges. IOW, some may be guilty and some may be not guilty, but none of them will be hung.

Correct. If there is a verdict it is unanimous on all counts (although not necessarily the same verdict for all counts).

yes, either guilty or not guilty on the 34 counts.

reminder the trump signed checks start around count 10.

By definition. Split verdict very possible, but I think that might be something like “checks Trump didn’t sign.”

I don’t think it’s split. I think it’s guilty on all counts. But we’ll see.

weissmann is thinking split due to the need for 30 minutes.

That’s my gut too. I feel like deliberations would’ve been longer if there was a split decision. That being said, everything Law & Order has taught me about the New York criminal justice system has been WRONG!

I have become so pessimistic with this coddled baby, I think he’s been found not guilty.

You called it. A post on a right-wing/MAGA message board from a few minutes ago:

the thinking is it would take 30 minutes to fill out all guilty or all not guilty.

If it’s a split verdict, cue the endless cries of, “He was exonerated by a jury, how can he be convicted, this is unconstitutional, we’ve never seen such a travesty of justice before.”

I mean, we’d get that anyway but it would give them a focus for it.
