Jesus, I want to go out and pick up a bottle of champagne, but I have to work in the morning. Dammit my life gets complicated at times! Any suggestions?
I can’t help wondering whether the Orange Peril’s asinine tweet affected the timing of the indictment. That is, Bragg may have been planning to call for an indictment after the break but did it now, either to a) keep the tweet from festering for a month, or b) give His Nibs a great big middle finger. Works for me either way.
And his response calls to mind the “No decrease in the chocolate ration” → “Expect a decrease in the chocolate ration” → “Chocolate ration increased!” sequence in 1984. Anyone who can reconcile it with yesterday’s tweet is a doubleplusgood doublethinker.
Bryan Tyler Cohen says it will be 6 months to a year before a trial date (in the first minute of this video). “If you’re worried about things moving too quickly to follow… you’ve got time.”
I’ve thought the situation over, and I’ll toast it with the beer I have in the fridge, and pick up a bottle tomorrow after work. I think this is the most mature decision I have ever made, but I appreciate your suggestion!
ETA: And yours, Spoons!
Apparently the DA’s office wanted an arrest tomorrow, but the Secret Service needed more time to coordinate the move.
ETA: we’ve been wondering what the logistics of charging, arresting, etc. an ex-president look like. Well, here we go. From a purely academic standpoint, everything that comes from this point forward will be fascinating.
