Happy birthday, @JohnT ! I hope you are enjoying this gift!
I was working away in my office and one of the guys stuck his head in the door.
“Trump’s been indicted”, he said.
“For which?” I said.
“The New York hush money thing.” Pause. “But it’s significant that you have to ask that.”
Just heard the news, popped the champagne and sat down to catch up on the thread
@JohnT You will forever know a bit of trivia.
What a wonderful birthday present! Congrats!!!
I know people are saying that this case is small potatoes compared to trying organize a putsch and intimidate electoral officials.
But it is somehow fitting that the first thing Trump is ever charged with is something really sleazy.
I’m viewing this as a five champagne bottle progression"
First indictment (CHECK!)
First conviction
First indictment on charges likely to lead to jail time
First prison sentence
The day he actually goes to prison
Each are worthy of celebration in and of themselves. The journey is the reward.
Mazel tov!
Well bless her 86-year-old semi-tee-totalin’ heart! I myself have an entire bottle of wine and a large bottle of vodka on the go for this occasion!
The added bonus is the Orange Peril’s tweeted “respect” for grand juries just yesterday when the Orange One thought they were deferring an indictment.
I was not gonna do this champagne thing but I found a split of Cava and some blackcurrant cordial left over from newyears in the fridge and am sitting down for my upcoming zoom meeting with a glass of (sorta) kir royale. Santé, everybody!
Just for the record, this is not the first time a President or ex-President has faced criminal charges. Grant was arrested for speeding. IIRC, the arresting officer (a black man)'s words were “Sir, I have the utmost respect for you, but the law is the law”. President Grant pled guilty.
Damn. Remember when Republican Presidents had that kind of class?
(To be fair, I would readily believe that George H. W. Bush would have copped to a speeding ticket from a black traffic cop and written a letter in defense of said cop if he faced unfair repercussions.)\
scuse typos hee hee this drink is goood
No fair! He just complained about being indicted on my birthday.
Also, happy cake day!
The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head.
It is un-American.
The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.
Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.
DeSantis is already groveling at the alter of the orange defendant, saying Florida will refuse to help with extradition if asked. How that “party of law and order” working out for you, Ronny? I forgot, it’s not illegal if a Republican does it. /s
Republicans respect “law and order” like they respect “life”.
Maddow is apparently worried about DeSantis just now on her show. (Don’t have clip yet.) This is what could lead to trouble if CFSG refuses to show up. I’m confused about this. HE won’t be able to campaign entirely from Florida, so he wouldn’t be able to leave FL.
Wow. That is pure RW buzzword bingo. The only thing missing is a reference to Hillary’s emails.
Unsurprising, but still impressive in a juvenile ignorant way.

Coward. That was a democratic lead witch hunt to take down the greatest president in history. GREATER THAN LINCOLN!

You know Trump didn’t write that. I’m trying to imagine having that job.
