To be fair to you, the reason I even mentioned Joe Exotic was due to your earlier post, so you deserve the credit there.
But I was ninja’d specifically in my reply to the post.

The “affair” wasn’t a crime. Unless Mr. Walsh is admitting that the twice-impeached felon forced himself on her.
I get that Bragg needs to have this press conference and answer questions but he sounds like a professional athlete who really doesn’t want to be there but has to.
Nm, hijack
Per cnn:
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg declined to answer a question about if he plans to request a prison sentence for former President Donald Trump.
“The judge scheduled sentencing for July 11th. We will speak in court at that time. We also set a motion schedule. We’ll speak as we have done throughout this proceeding,” Bragg said.
What’s that?
Timetable for bathroom breaks.
I reckon a schedule for the various motions that defence and prosecution would like to make before the sentencing hearing.
He probably doesn’t. He’d rather be popping corks and conga-lining through the offices with his staff.
I thought he was very professional. He didn’t gloat, thankfully. He thanked his staff over and over again. I liked him.
Meanwhile, somewhere in Florida, Ivanka Kushner ordered a cashmere sweater to go with the new tennis bracelet…
The judge probably set a deadline for sentencing memoranda. That would include a defense motion for a downward departure (which is to say, a sentence below the typical sentencing guidelines for this offense)
I don’t see why the DA wouldn’t ask for prison. I would think that this is the most egregious example of violating this law that one could imagine (the underlying crime involved the integrity of the presidential election), and the defendant is about as unrepentant and contemptuous as you can get.
Let’s pencil sentencing day for another good time to drink the good stuff. He’s not going to be allowed to just go home with a stern lecture.
I thought he was very professional. He didn’t gloat, thankfully. He thanked his staff over and over again. I liked him.
I agree completely. Bragg didn’t spike the ball in the end zone. Instead, he acted like he’d done it many times before.
“I did my job.”
I wonder if Judge Cannon is going to hunker down and become even more committed to protecting him?
She could have gone down in history been the judge presiding over the first trial where a former President was found guilty of a felony. Instead she’ll be relegated to, at best, a footnote.
Good.
I’ll tell you, if I had been on that jury I’d have been very tempted to vote not guilty out of fear for my life and my family’s safety.
But that would have hurt Donnie’s feewings.
Per cnn:
A source familiar with Donald Trump as he left court said he was in “good spirits and ready to fight.”
rc: hhhhhhm, I don’t think so…
Per cnn:
Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social platform that he will hold a news conference Friday morning.
Trump will address reporters at 11 a.m. ET tomorrow from the Trump Tower atrium, he said, adding his campaign slogan: “MAGA2024!”
I thought he was very professional. He didn’t gloat, thankfully. He thanked his staff over and over again. I liked him.
Perhaps we should work toward the ultimate irony of getting Alvin Bragg elected President
@DesertDog can you share the link?
PM Don’t want to drop a commercial in a news link.
I think a lot of here are getting into good spirits.
I haven’t looked, but I’m pretty sure that all the right-wingers/MAGAs are saying, “Just wait for the appeal; this verdict will be thrown out,” and similar.
But they don’t really know what an appeal is—a good number of them, maybe most, think it’s a do-over. IAAL, but not a New York one, and I saw that Merchan took great care to not do things that could give rise to an appeal.
His jury instructions were a great example: plain, simple language that explains to the layperson just what the jury’s task was, and explained various concepts that laypeople might not know. No legalese, no ten-dollar words, nothing that could confuse a juror, which could give rise to an appeal.
Am I nuts for thinking the jurors’ lives are in danger from MAGA zealots?
