I think he’s saying the Judge has a conflict of interest, since he’s a Biden loving communist. Of course, Judge Cannon has no conflict, or Justice Alito.
As I said earlier, one of the important mitigating factors in sentencing decisions is the convict’s degree of genuine remorse and willingness to reform. Whereas Trump cannot stop shooting his mouth off slamming the judge, the jury, the judicial system, and President Biden, all while claiming that he did nothing wrong. If he wanted a hefty prison sentence, this is the way to get it. I suspect that Judge Merchan will neverthelesss likely give him more leeway than he deserves, but I hope I’m wrong.
Well, Blanche and the rest of Trump’s legal team know who butters their bread, so I’m not surprised if he and they are refraining from saying not-so-nice things about Trump’s legal capabilities. But as I’ve posted before, I’m sure that deep down, they are thinking, “And what law school did you go to, Donnie?”
I don’t believe that Trump was joking either.
I assume the prosecution will be collecting many examples of Trump’s outbursts to present to the court along with their sentence recommendation.
Is the pre-convict under oath during the pre-sentencing interview? Are they required to answer all questions? Wonder if Trump can avoid making provably false statements during the interview.
Thanks. Didn’t make that connection.
He’s referring to the fact that the judge’s daughter works for a company that has done some work (public relations? consulting? something like that) for the Democratic Party. Plus the judge may have donated a small amount, like $25, to a Democratic candidate some years ago.
Problem is that Trump fails to realize that unlike him, most people don’t have a family business that employs their kids. Merchan’s daughter is an adult, and in no way is employed by or acting under orders of her father. Unlike Don Junior, Eric, and Ivanka.
As for a political donation, well, this case is not political. Trump wishes it were, and makes much of that, but I’m sure that even he realizes, though he’d never admit it, that Biden and the Democratic Party have nothing to do with it. Besides, judges are also citizens, who are allowed to have their own political beliefs, as long as those don’t interfere with their decisions.
This is a slight hijack, for which I apologize: may I ask if the UK panel show Have I Got News For You is shown in the US?
The reason I’m asking - in the UK it’s shown on Friday night, but it’s an open secret that it’s actually recorded on Thursday evening. It’s possible that the guilty verdicts came out during the recording. When major a news item has broken during past recordings, the panel have been notified of it mid-show by a runner.
I have no idea what the BBC would do if this sequence of events happened. Just sayin’
Hijack over and apologies.

Outside of youtube/the internet, no. As far as I know it’s not broadcast in the states.
We’ll see shortly, although unless the taping ran long the verdict may have come after they’d finished.
Every time I hear Trump talk about the “conflicted” judge in his criminal case, this famous movie quote goes though my head:
“You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.”
Nailed it.
I hope he’s treated with the level of respect one can expect from a New York City civil servant.
This certainly shows how Republican are lining up behind Trump, as if there was any doubt.
Slight digression, but I think it always helps to remember Larry Hogan’s pedigree:
Lawrence Joseph Hogan Sr. (September 30, 1928 – April 20, 2017) was an American politician who served as a Republican U.S. Congressman, representing the 5th congressional district of Maryland from January 3, 1969, to January 3, 1975. In 1974, he was the only Republican Representative to vote to recommend all three House articles of impeachment against President Richard Nixon. He was the father of the 62nd Governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan.

The MD Senate candidate is the son of ^ that guy.
Trump just got slapped hard by reality in full view of the entire world. They have to now start treating even their own allies with extra aggression and nastiness. This is typical cult behavior, circle the wagons, kick out anyone that is insufficiently loyal. Maintain dear leaders preferred narrative.
And I just want to chime in and say bravo! That was wonderful. I’m a little jealous I didn’t think of it.
This sort of Omega Dog behavior doesn’t mesh well with the image that the movement paints of him. From the Daily Kos article referenced by @rocking_chair above:
MAGA respects power. Power to compel others to their will. The power to force others to your
will.
I can’t help but wonder how many MAGAsses will have enough trouble equating Trump’s current bahavior with the idea of “power” that they drop him (probably in favor of a more “powerful” persona, but at least away from him). Probably not all that many, since cognitive dissonance and doublethink seem to be entrance requirements; still, every little bit helps.
Now is DeSantis’ moment to shove Trump off the stage! All the MAGAs need is a new, shiny object to start fawning over. C’mon, Ronny!
I’d say none since he has been whining to them since 2015. They think whining and crying is being a manly tough guy.
MAGA folks aren’t the brightest.
There has been concern about violence and threats from MAGATs if Trump was convicted. Has there been any? I have not seen any mention of such incidents in the media; just moaning and lamenting on social media and to interviewers as described above. I am hoping they have learned their lessons about violence resulting in being locked up, but I’m not holding my breath.
