I think Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me also tapes on Thursday evening. They tend to focus on lesser-reported news stories, so they’ll be all over this.
CNN is reporting attempted doxxing and death threats against the jurors.
On online forums that have previously been linked to mass shootings, people are threatening violence and attempting to publicly identify the 12 New York jurors who on Thursday decided to convict former President Donald Trump.
The calls for retribution began immediately after the verdict was announced.
“Hope these jurors face some street justice,” one anonymous user on a pro-Trump forum wrote. Another suggestively asked, “Wouldn’t [it] be interesting if just one person from Trump’s legal team anonymously leaked the names of the jurors?”
Also this:
Violent rhetoric targeting other people involved in the case, including the presiding judge, the district attorney and journalists who reported on the case, was identified by researchers at Advance Democracy, a nonprofit organization that conducts public-interest research, the group’s president, Daniel Jones, told CNN Friday.
They may be trying to come up with a plan. Oh wait…
Now, the MAGAs want Biden to tell the NY Gov. to pardon Trump.
You know, for the good of the country.
Was there anything even remotely this bad during or after the trials of mobsters like Capone and John Gotti? I know that Gotti did his share of intimidation, but it was never anything like this. Is the whole justice system breaking down, and democracy along with it? Or are these just a few crazies who’ll be tracked down and arrested?
Have the threats been reported to the FBI?
The MAGAs are arguing that the jurors would have decided differently had they been able to use the advice of counsel defense or that thing with the non-unanimous voting. It’s not even their fault. /s
I’m looking forward to polls in a week or two to see if there’s any significant changes for Trump. I don’t think they’ll be much of a change, but of course I’d love to see a significant drop.
All it takes for Trump to lose lots of ground is even just a wee drop.
Someone posted elswhere on the board that this jury verdict was the first popular vote that Trump ever won.
Gotti didn’t have twitter.
These are very typical statements from the MAGA crowd - always urging someone else to take action. Just like their idol. They’re not going to do anything.
For his pre-sentencing interview, is Trump under oath, or will he be allowed to (hypothetically) lie with impunity?
I heard someone mention this Voltaire quote in reference to Trump:
‘“Truly, whoever is able to make you absurd is able to make you unjust”, commonly quoted as “Those who can make you believe in absurdities can make you commit atrocities” (Questions sur les miracles , 1765).’
Has anybody spotted the Gang of Clones lately?
The Mafia messaging app should be called Gabbagool.
And their search engine Bada-Bing?
ETA: sorry, @Aspenglow . I’m back in control now

Here’s a fact check from USA Today on the unanimity issue:
Per various msnbc interviews:
Bits of the probation interview may be in the defence and prosecution sentencing recommendations.
After the sentencing on July 11th, trump has 30 days to appeal. The appeal may be 6 months or more after that.
I will now attempt calendar math. Appeal has to happen around aug. 12 or 13. The appeal may get in front of judges by mid Jan. 2025.
