Manhattan Prosecutors file criminal charges for Trump re Stormy Daniels case - ongoing discussion here (Guilty on all 34 counts, May 30, 2024)

He was a new father when he was with Stormy. He didn’t have time for an affair.

Always the hallmark of an honest politician wanting only to serve his country! Although to be fair, Trump did service a large number of his country’s female citizens, and he did demonstrate his love of country in a photo-op where he apparently attempted to hump the flag in the manner of a confused canine crazed by surging hormones. To Trumpists, these are all admirable traits.

And perhaps also for having Cohen report a business expense reimbursement as regular income — when the normal Trump way is just the opposite.

Pecker needed to play a little more hardball there. Threaten to run the story if he wasn’t paid.

Trump Stiffs Pecker, Leaves Him Hanging”

The headlines just write themselves.

Thank you. This is what I’ve thought about Trump since he was elected: he’s the Godfather. Like Don Vito Corleone, he’s responsible for nothing–his people are. Oh, he may issue instructions or demands, sometimes obliquely: “Stand back and stand by,” and “Be there, will be wild,” and the following, from his January 6 rally at the Ellipse:

Just like the Godfather, Don Vito Corleone. Guilty of nothing, but responsible for instigating everything that happens subsequently, though acted upon by others. Trump would make a perfect mob boss. He’s untouchable; his supporters are the patsies who get to take the fall.

Bravo! Building upon the shoulders of a giant may I add:

Helping out with late night feedings and what not.

Did trump actually get fingerprinted and have a DNA swab done?

And when displeased with the boss, they go all Praetorian Guard on him.

He did get fingerprinted.

I don’t see anything one way or the other about a DNA swab, though reportedly Trump volunteered to provide his DNA to law enforcement to clear him of rape charges, etc. From what I’ve read, a judge said, “No thanks.”

I’m holding back the inevitable off-color joke.

I don’t know about that.

There’s a post in another thread about politicians refusing to give money to a state school lunch program, and then turning around and increasing their own meal allowances. That’s pretty stark. And brings to mind images of piggy-eyed politicians snarfling at a trough.

ag bragg files a 50 page lawsuit against jim jordan. “in response to an unprecedently brazen and unconstitutional attack”.

Links are such a lovely thing to share with the rest of us, when you see a bit of breaking news. Like so:

pdf of the filing.

thank you for the assist kenobi_65. i didn’t see any links when i typed the earlier post.

You are welcome…but if you didn’t see any links, where did you get the news? On TV? If so, it’s helpful to note where you heard/saw a news item like that, so it’s clear that you are, in fact, sharing information from a news source, and not just “someone told me…”

paywalled.

Here’s another version of the story for those without NYT access:

I hadn’t been able to find a story about the lawsuit on a few free sites when I posted, so I defaulted to the Times, which did have a story. But, now, it seems to be spreading, and here’s a link to coverage on NBC:

(and, ninjaed by you as I was typing. )

My favorite part (from ABC News)

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Jordan, will hold a field hearing on April 17 in New York City to discuss “victims of violent crime in Manhattan.” There, lawmakers will examine what the committee called Bragg’s “pro-crime policies” that have led to a “dangerous community” for residents, according to a press release issued on Monday night.

A spokesperson for Bragg’s office quickly shot back: “Don’t be fooled, the House GOP is coming to the safest big city in America for a political stunt. This hearing won’t engage actual efforts to increase public safety, such as supporting national gun legislation and shutting down the iron pipeline.”

The spokesperson also said New York City had a murder rate “nearly three times lower” than that of Columbus, Ohio – Jordan’s home turf.

it was a breaking news banner on cnn. they didn’t have it up on their site yet. i will do so in the future, thank you.
