Trump having to be there every day for the trial is going to help his case, right? What with all the glaring and sighing and muttered comments to his lawyers and so forth – I mean, what jury doesn’t love seeing a criminal defendant show such respect for the court?

Eh, he’s going to give a press conference after every day of trial, I’m sure. Well, not so much press conference as rant to reporters.
But it’s going to be all about his grievances. To the extent that donald was successful in 2016, it was because he vocalized the grievances of a white working class voting bloc. Now, it’s going to be all about him.
This is what I was thinking. Sure the hard core MAGAts are going to go along with the Trump Grievance Hour. But just whining and crying and pouting every day about how this is soooooo unfaaaaair! is surely going to get tiresome after a while for a proportion of softer MAGAts. They want to see new amusing insults. They want new targets to hate. Just hearing the same whining song for 6 weeks is going to get boooooring. And MAGATs don’t like boring. They want entertainment.
Yes, he is going to rant about how he is being GAGGED and he doesn’t have any first amendment rights to talk about how he did nothing wrong, the judge hates him, it’s election interference. It’s the worst thing that has ever happened in this country! But he can’t say that! SAD.

At this rate I half-expect him to try some stunt in the courtroom to deliberately cause a mistrial. Either by directly threatening the jury or trying to assault one of the prosecutors or court staff.
I fully expect him to do this. (But so does Judge Merchan.)
