Mantovani, Previn, etc.

Do you think that history will one day find a place for them such as the place found for Beethoven, Bach, Handel, etc?

The reason I ask is because I am listening to the EASY LISTENING channel on Sirius, and these orchestras have been playing, but I don’t hear the …artistry that I hear from the masters.

All things being relative and them being Modern composers, do you think they will be as revered as the Classical and Baroque guys?

Thanks

Q

First off, Mantovani didn’t compose much in a relative sense, and his work was in a popular field. What remembrance will occur of him will be out of classical music.

Previn, on the other hand, actually has engaged in composition in the classical field, but not as much as either his film work or the work of those you mentioned in your OP.
