Marble Hornets - did anybody here catch on to this meme?

Holy shit.

Alex is a murderer. Poor beardy guy. I think it’s pretty clear that Alex took Beardy for Jay in his crazed mind. The question is, did Alex kill to leave an offering for Slendy, or did he just snap?

Yeah, that was my train of thought.

Considering that he was muttering “don’t follow me” on his walk, I’m thinking he knew (duh) that not-ninja Jay was following him, and that he really didn’t want to hurt Jay but knew his actions weren’t entirely his own. His gait was rather stiff when he set out into the woods in the previous tape.

Now, is this the season 2 finale, or will we get an entry #50 first? And what about a response from totheark?

This is the first time I’ve seen them use a split screen effect. Good use of it, too.

If I recall #29 correctly, there’s a bloody rock and a white shirt, so

Apparently Slendy likes to remove the wrapper from his snacks.

I think it’s safe to say #38 takes place shortly after #49. If so, that makes the end of #38 even more sinister.

I hope this isn’t the end of Season 2, I would very much like to see if Jay “finds” the missing footage from #38.

“Not true, sir. It was only a slight tolchock. He was breathing before The Operator got to 'im, I swear it.”

Someone at the unfiction thread posted a pretty decent theory of the story. In brief:

The Operator requires a human avatar in order to remain anchored to the world. The servant possibly needs to submit willingly. He also has some ability to control people’s actions against their will.
Alex is the current subject, but he knows that he has to separate himself from anyone he knows. Possibly he did this as a trade for Amy’s life. The recent entries detail this process.
The maskers/totheark/Tim are opposed to The Operator and want to kill him once he enters a body. The mask is a protection from The Operator’s control.

Holy balls, I’m not going to spoil it and I lack time for discussion right now, but watch Entry 51, now. It was amazing.

Wow. This did not disappoint.

So Alex has been “feeding” Slendy since the beginning of filming his movie. I think this gives us a sort-of origin for Tim as Masky. I also suspect this makes Brian a possible candidate for Hoody. It also raises questions about what exactly Slendy does with his victims. A theory on unfiction is saying that Masky and Hoody are Tim and Brian taking revenge on Alex for “sacrificing them” (and possibly the whole Marble Hornets cast and crew) to Slendy. So that raises the question, if Jay was one of the sacrifices (as intimated in entry #22), why is he (probably) not similarly affected?

Troy sez on his blog that they’re “definitely in the home stretch” as far as Season 2 goes, and there’s still the question of how Jay ended up in the hotel.

Love #51! I was psyched…

Hey, it’s Brian! We get to see Brian again! Last we saw him, he’d gone out for snacks. Hi, Brian! Uh… OH SHIT!

Troy said on Facebook/Twitter that he’s probably taking the suggestion of a viewer to make a “trailer” for the Marble Hornets student film, to be included as an extra on the Season 2 DVD. Awesome.

No posts on #52? I’ll start.

Holy shit!

Tim still smokes!

Seriously, though, they outdid themselves on this one. A great ending to the 2nd season, I think. We got…

TimMasky saving Jay and Jessica’s bacon against a gun-toting Alex (explains the bullet casing from season one, maybe?). However, I still don’t know if Masky’s a good guy or a bad guy. Was he saving Jay just to save him, or does he have an ulterior motive to keep Jay alive?

Also…

Did Alex survive Masky’s ninja skillz?

And finally…

An awesome appearance by Slendy. And kudos to Jay for confronting him head-on! I did jump when Slendy reached for Jay, and when Jay teleported. Very well done. It ties up the “how did they get to the hotel” question pretty neatly.

The only downside is the wait for season 3 to start.

Thanks for bumping this, I’d intended to but then forgot.

Yes to what you said, plus…

I thought that was Masky following them through the woods, but someone on UnFiction pointed out to look close at 3:21 - Masky’s peeking out of that window in the barn/sawmill/whatever the hell that is! That also means in about 10 seconds, he manages to quietly ninja-run across the boards of the second floor and hide behind the stairwell. Was it Hoody (Brian?) making the sound of footsteps behind them?

Awesome moves by Jay.

How cute of him being so protective of Jessica… pity it all goes to shit shortly. My first listen-through, I missed hearing him yelling at Slendy in the hotel room, so I suspect he actually charged Slendy out of desperation. And Jessica’s screams were some of the best I’ve heard.

Nice black humor comments from Jay too, both in his intro and later on. Plus he actually does look like hell in the intro - do they have someone doing makeup, or is his IRL schedule with job and classes beating him up?

IRL stuff:Yes, it’s the season end, but on his personal Facebook account, Troy (Jay) said to watch his YouTube channel troyhasacamera to soon find the season 2 credits, and something else too.

Whoa, I completely missed that. I’ll have to re-re-rewatch it.

If the footsteps did come from Hoody, could Masky have gotten into the building another way? Not to disparage Masky’s ninja abilities or anything.

It was actually reminiscent (to me, at least) of Alex walking toward Slendy in Entry #43*, though Alex seemed to be walking in a trance, while Jay seemed to be taking a stand against him.

My bet’s on makeup, kind of like Return, only less so.

Hmm..my curiosity is piqued. I already subscribe to that channel, and I can’t wait to see.

*I couldn’t remember the entry number, so I had to watch three entries before I found the right one. FUCK THAT SHIT.

There goes sleep. :frowning:

I know what you mean - Tribe Twelve (which started as a MH homage/parody and really took off) just had a significant video update and I’m going nope, my sleep is important. That’s waiting until morning.

I’d recommend checking it out - the first few videos are just not that good, but goddamn, it really picks up after that. Love the protagonist, Slender Man is freaking scary, and there’s a TTA-style antagonist/Slendy helper who puts up some seriously freaky videos. Plus he’s a serious fucking troll of the protagonist, and I mean that in an entertainingly horrifying way.

But I’d wait until morning.

Oh, I’m willing to give Masky plenty of ninja-cred. It’s just that having two of the Masked Gang around is a simpler solution. It’s possible that when they heard him, Masky realized where Alex was going, and thus circled around ahead (making more noise in the process) to get into position.

And another thing, this about a shot near the end:

Someone pointed out that weird art project on a tree right before you see Tim walking along - “bottle trees” are used in parts of the South as a folk ward against evil spirits.

I plan on checking out Tribe Twelve, I’ve heard good things about it. I also want to see EverymanHybrid. I just want to wait until Marble Hornets is over before I delve into another Slenderman mythos.

I seem to recall hearing about the bottle tree thing years and years ago, but I’d completely forgotten about it 'til now. Nice touch, guys.

Is Season 3 imminent? Jay’s been tweeting on and off for a while about stuff like his sleep being not so good, plus he’s been staking out the shop seen at the end of season 2…

The one we saw Tim leaving.

The latest tweets from him include photos. Scroll back a bit in his Twitter feed to catch up before the new season starts!

Plus, for IRL stuff that fans will definitely want to know about (not spoilery really, but the link may take new viewers to spoilers if they explore further): Troy announces Season 2 DVD release on his blog - and it’s on sale today! Plus logo/O-symbol t-shirts, and Season 1 is still available. Also, rumor is that the secret extra on the S2 DVD is a trailer for the student film “Marble Hornets,” the one Alex was filming until shit got weird.

Need to check this out later.

I finally watched the last few episodes of season 2 a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I’m really starting to lose interest in this thing. The “plot” is advancing waaaayyy too slowly. We did find out some interesting things in the last few episodes, but it didn’t feel worth it after sitting through what seems like hours of shaky footage of trees and parking lots. Even the Slender Man is starting to seem less menacing now that we’ve seen him so often and the all-too-familiar warning signs on the tapes (buzzing noise and distorted image) make his appearances sort of routine now. And the actors aren’t good enough to carry this off, at all. For a short series that could be overlooked, but in a lengthy ongoing multi-season series the weaknesses are harder to ignore.

I wish they’d make only a few more episodes and wrap the whole thing up, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.

Troy posted a coupla cryptic blog posts, and the translation seems to be that Season 3 will start March 10th, which will coincide nicely with DVD sales. (bought!)

This looks awesome.

So what’s the deal with Slendy? Does he actually eat people? (the random guy killed by the tunnel, only blood and a few bits of clothes remained) Or is it something else? How come all these guys have run into him over and over again, even to the point of trying to attack him physically, but are not Slendy-poop? An how come Slendy is such a slow stalker? It looks like he can just kinda be wherever he wants without having to worry about things like doors or walls. Why bother with all the hanging around in the background for days at a time?

And the masked d00ds, are they trying to kill the Operator? Like, they actually oppose Slendy and rather than trying to take him on, they’re going after a weak link in his chain? In the abandoned house the masked d00d ran right past the one guy and attacked the Operator. What about that earlier video, where the first masked d00d is seen in that one guy’s bedroom while he’s sleeping. Was he fucking with him, or protecting him?
