March Madness Mother Nature Style In The MMP

Good morning.

It’s raining and 53F. Our projected daytime high is 55F, and rain will fall all day… again. Not only are there avalanche warnings, but we are also being warned about mudslides, especially on hills, cliffs, and burn scars. We’ve already had a few local slides and downed trees.

Lily, so good to see you. I hope your sabbatical is doing you some good.

VanGo, I used to take mental health days every so often, too. It’s important.

Metal Mouse, I’m glad the plumbing is done, but sorry about the costs involved. I hope this is your last go-round with this issue.

I haven’t decided what I’ll do today. Maybe nothing, maybe something. It’s ridiculously soggy and as a PNWer, it shouldn’t bother me so much. But I don’t particularly like being caught in downpours when out of the Jeep and having to be somewhere. Also, people can’t drive for shit around here, and I don’t particularly want to be around them when things are so soggy.

I suppose I’ll finish my coffee and do some more internettin’ for now. Please take care of yourselves.

Happy Spring (or Autumn if you’re south of the equator)!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The agenda today includes doing a load of towels and putting together my tax documents. Other than that, RDOS.

I did my first tutorial with the ScanNCut yesterday and cut a couple of the preloaded shapes. I’ll stamp some stuff today and take the second, the one that scans and cuts (hence the name) what you’ve stamped. Comes in handy for stamps for which there are no dies for cutting your image.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Morning all. First day this week I’m not expecting plumbing to be done, the long nightmare is over and I’m (almost) back to normal. Shopping has been completed and initial calories ingested. Major work today is going over to the library with my soccer notes and trying to organize about 160 boys in 2 divisions into teams, while still trying to find coaches. Season is supposed to start next Saturday, so going right down to the finish on this.

Still need to contact someone on fixing the holes in my house created by the plumbing changes. Have a couple references, will get to it today sometime.

Weather should be great, no rain and heading to 80F (64F right now).

Checking in on all y’all…

boo fae, for inheritance I have Brother, then Sis-in-Law, then their 3 kids split it evenly if I outlive both of them (quite possible). Hope mail arrives for your signature and listening pleasure respectively.

Have fun playing with the new machine, red

And need to read my comics and get some more soccer notes from the website, so take care all.

First load of laundry folded and stowed. Second in the dryer, third in the washer, fourth on deck. How do 2 people generate so many dirties?

Good morning, all. My walking alarm did not go off this morning, so I slept.

I actually had to do work this morning. I have a couple of techs in Down-Eastern North Carolina who are trying to over-engineer a project I have down there. I had to talk to their manager to get thins moving. One good thing about their foot dragging is it made me count the lines we had to move. Now I need more equipment on the far end. You’d think Planning would have counted.

Spike goes back to school tomorrow. He’s asked me to make Alfredo sauce tonight. sigh I guess I’ll have to throw myself on that grenade.

I have my power class this morning. Gotta run.

red - Thank you for talking me down. I’ve just grown used to expecting the worst from this legislature.

GenJ - That is definitely a pup who feels she is owed a ride. Better hop to it.

FCM - Thank you for the recipe. I may try it with the air fryer tray in the convection oven and report back. I assume you used red potatoes.

Swampy - The good people who set up coffee hour (biscuit minute for us) get a free pass.

Yes. Yes, it is.

I’ve seen some dogwoods here and there, I don’t recall if I’ve seen them wild here. I’d rather not plant a non-native tree is all.

I would guess it’s something every GFC provider already provides. It’s called basic patient care, but in order to distract everyone from the Epstein Class, they need to push the narrative that trans individuals a “pressured” into transition.

Oh yeah - most of our locally owned restaurants will have a fund raising night for the local schools. It’s a win-win. It dirves up business on a Wednesday night, and raises money for the school. I expect we (the HS Band) will be looking into a few of those for next year. The scuttlebutt is that there is Really Big Trip being arraigned for next year. That is one reason I’m being a bit mum IRL about my situation. They always need dads for chaperones, and I can’t imagine a way to get blackballed faster.

Boo fae - good on you for getting the physical media. It really puts more money in the artists’ pockets. Not to mention - that music is yours for however long you want, and not as long as Jeff Bezos says so.

FCM - Whenever you’re feeling sad and alone, remember: Laundry. Laundry will always be there for you.

That’s a good plan, although I am not sure we have anything that other people would be particularly interested in. I have, sadly, been told it’ll be a condition of his Will that I am not allowed to just burn his comic collection!

Restaurants are a good way to fund things like that, I bet the kids would be very excited about that. It’s a pity that you need to keep your situation to yourself if you want to be a chaperone, especially when you are dealing with close-minded ninnies.

The signed-for envelope arrived and is safely in the house. The tracked package will be with me tomorrow, and due to a bonus offer of two live tracks on a digital version of the album, I have parted with the princely sum of £4 and now have the new music on my phone. My ears will be happy on the way home!

Yeah, I used the little red ones, but I’m sure cutting up the big ones, or even using yukon gold will work as well.

I saw this as Jeff Bozo, and it seemed appropriate!

ha ha you so funneeeeee :stuck_out_tongue:

And our replacement credit cards were just delivered by FedEx!! WOOHOO!!! Now I have to go thru all our accounts that are paid via VISA and change them. Glad I kept a spreadsheet with all the info.

Onward!!

Well, there’s certainly that possibility. I already distributed my mother’s silver pieces - which are quite old - to my three surviving kids and told them “I don’t care if you want it or not, deal with it.” My daughter has expressed interest in anything that I have made myself (woodworking). One of my sons already has all of my military memorabilia. The wife’s niece wants our Christmas angel ornaments. Other than that, I haven’t heard any mentions about our artwork and the like. Much of it is relevant to the West Coast or Alaska, so even local museums probably wouldn’t want it.

This is kind of turning into a highjack of the MMP, so I’ll stop now.

Supposed to hit 62 today and 78(!) tomorrow, then plummet to the 40s again. I’m pretty sure I’m seeing tiny little sprouts in my hydroponic herb garden. Very exciting.

I was doing the 300 Slide/Table thing again. A little less chaotic than last time.

Withholding hormone treatment, forcing people to wear the wrong clothes and use the wrong restroom, and god knows what they’d do to anybody who had any kind of gender affriming surgery.

So no diplomatic way to say “You seem butthurt, do you want me to call you a WAAAHH!mbulance?”?

He’s basically Temu Lex Luther.

You hijacked the MMP. Which is a hijack of MPSIMS. Which itself a hijack of the SDMB.

I just finished hacking back wisteria along about 2/3 of the side fence - I ran out of steam. But it’ll get done when I’m steamed up again!

Now, what to do about supper??

You go outside.

After 30 years in Tennessee, I quit raising my blood pressure halfway in on late session crap. I hope that I’m correct this time.

At this point, you’re a pro at this.

Yoga’d, showered, and fed. The instructor asked that we try a spring equinox intention. “Let go of something old and make room for something new.” It was a little too on the nose for me. I don’t know why I’m so weepy lately - good thing there was A LOT of sweating.

Amica is showing Fang and the car we sold him still on our insurance. I guess I know my task for this afternoon.

As do I.

Tonight, we’re going to see Inebriated Shakespeare’s Othello. I’m looking forward to a little escapism.

That was a beautiful day and I spent it inside because I have a headache and an upset stomach. I had my “headache cure” meal which is McD filet o fish and fries. It did not help my headache or my stomach. I’ll be fine tomorrow. I guess I just needed a day of rest.

Howdy!
It was another beautiful spring day with blinding sunshine and a high of 79 ferrets.

Today I made Peet’s Major D’s in the French press and it’s a lot better than pour-over. This coffee tastes good, but with a little more time in the water it’s very, very good.

I have played in the dirt and absorbed some Vitamin D. This bad weather set me behind on the garden, and I know what a frostburnt twig looks like now. The freeze wrecked the hydrangeas and most of the new growth on the figs has turned brown and some entire branches are turning black. Bummer.

Looking forward to a happenin’ night of catching up on my favorite YT channels.

Swampy and Mollie and Boofae I committed a serious canine offense. That was the first time I took her anywhere in the truck-- we’ve been playing musical cars lately-- which belongs to her and her favorite person. At the time I was unaware of the sacred routine of truck rides, and that the dog would feel cheated. She is so spoiled.

Swampy THANK YOU! Clowns are creepy.

She gets accused of that often: the attitude; the selective hearing; and she’s the only dog I’ve ever seen who cleans her face and paws after eating, exactly like a cat.
Then she finds some wet deer shit to roll in and comes home pleased as punch, and it takes an hour in the tub to scrub the stench out of her fur. No cat would stoop so low.
(Yay, I learned how to do the blur.)

It really is adorable. I’m sure the driver has many dog friends but he seems particularly fond of the princess. I’m embarrassed that the stubborn beast wouldn’t get out to say hello.

This is great, thanks! I don’t have FB, but searched and there are tons of pictures online.

Frustrated. I spent 3 hours at the library putting soccer teams together based on the data I had on hand, came home and took a break, went to put it in the system…and realized that I had left some of the most important stuff (requests for teammates/coaches) off my cheat sheets and all that I had done was probably FUBAR. So after callling myself some names, I decided to go to the gym for a couple hours to burn off some calories and frustration, so packed my bag, took off, and…forgot to pack my gym shorts…so came home, at my bowl of salad, collected all the data I didn’t have earlier and will now try to get the 7U teams done tonight (8U can wait for Saturday). So yeah, not a gold star day. Did get a guy to come over Monday to look at the repairs needed from the plumbing fix and give me an estimate, so something positive was accomplished. And the leak is apparently well-fixed, have checked a couple of times and all is well.

So let’s see how it is for you folks…

FCM, I presume you like wearing clean clothes every day…I’m ambivalent in that regard… :face_with_crossed_out_eyes: Glad to hear the new CC arrived, we’ll see how long these last…

Mollie, glad you caught up with them before it became a FUBAR for you. Enjoy drunk Shakespeare…

boo fae, glad the mail is working for you. I got a check from the US Gubmint for the munificent sum of $14.50 and I had no clue why–it says HHS-CMS-HIGLAS so goggling determined it came from Medicare, apparently I didn’t make as much as they thought I did on my taxes so they returned a surcharge I wasn’t even aware of. Ah well, it’ll buy lunch at Whataburger one of these days…

wet one, hope what ails you is gone by tomorrow.

GenJ, sounds like the canine has some feline genes…

And must get down to the soccer stuff and try not to mess it up this time. Take care all.

Howdy Y’all! I can sum up the day in one sentence. We were bears who lunch and then we were bears who sloth. The afternoon was beautiful, so we quaffed beerverages out beside the cee-mint pond and contemplated what we need to do to get it ready for the season.

red glad you’re havin’ fun with your new toy.

BooFae hope your CD and Tshirt arrive soonest.

Cookie good idea. I wouldn’t want my sibs goin’ to battle over who gets my collection of mystery cords and cables.

MetalMouse sometimes life just be that way. Don’t beat yourself up.

I left my new job early today, because I had a previously-scheduled PCP appointment.

BP: 123 over 68
Pulse: 59

Creatinine was in the normal range, but near the bottom. My PCP said that means my kidneys are working well. HDL (‘good cholesterol’) is still rather high, but lower than it was when I was having a daily fish oil capsule.

Up from naptime, watching hockey. Dinner tonight was a Sidecar, and tuna and shitake mushrooms with soba noodles.
Also, The Lego-ish Waffle House is a thing. I wiil buy this.

I hope so, too.

That’s the noise I make when Spot tries to nap on my larynx.

Also, Canes just won Game #69. Nice.

Well, dang. Its officially spring now too! Hopefully yours will be as short as ours. Snow on the ground Monday, currently it is 62F.

What is left of our vast fortune  after our end of life expenses, small amounts of money will be going to two friends (one of whom will get my stitching stash) and the rest will go to the fuzzbutts care and then to the no-kill shelter that took in Jolene’s pregnant mom.

I wonder about her blood pressure. Being constantly irked about things she can do nothing about must be so stressful. Don’t let her raise your blood pressure too!

I think you are right. When we know we can do better, we are never again satisfied with “good enough”.

I’m glad you are having fun with it and look forward to seeing your results.

I am so sorry.

With everything that’s happening now, I’d be keeping my mouth shut as well. Many supportive thoughts going your way.

Well dang. I hope your cure only failed this once and will work again next time. I do lurve myself a fish samwich, I should probably get one soon.

So TC friend’s mother caught RSV (probably unvaxxed, TC friend - the RN!!! - doesn’t believe in them and she got that somewhere) and spent a couple of weeks in the ICU before passing away. TC friend’s 90 year old father is a mess and her brothers et al live out of state and are of course depending on TC friend to do everything including funeral arrangements, hotel and rental car reservations.

I wanted to send a plant to her home, but florists don’t go out there, its too far. I’ll have to settle for sending an arrangement to the funeral home instead. The problem with that is most people bring the flowers home with them and florists like to put lilies in funeral arrangements. Lilies are beautiful, but not great for cats and TC friend has her share of the fuzzbutts.

I’ll call the florist and speak to someone, but just because they write it down doesn’t mean the person doing the work actually reads the notes.

Inebriated Shakespeare was a lot of fun, like usual. Iago was only recast two weeks ago, and kept getting a little lost. It didn’t help that he also had (probably) the most shots bought for him. He did get his soliloquies down until he couldn’t.

I preferred last year’s A Midsummer Nights Dream, but we had a goid time as always with this troupe.
