Hi ! I’m with my kids in America now for a vacation trip.
We are staying at my mother’s place. My mother is getting quite a bit older, and she’s slowing down.
My mother is getting quite a bit older, and she’s slowing down.
She seems to be doing OK. My sister lives with her and is doing a really good job of taking care of her. There’s a lot of stress at times for my sister because taking care of elderly people isn’t the easiest.
My kids are doing really well. They like coming here.
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 14c/58f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Calm your fucking tits. It’s not that fucking bad outside.” Well, partly cloudy does mean partly sunny, so that’s a bonus.
Isn’t that what the MMP is all about?
Sadly, it would seem not. I’m looking for a polite way to suggest she considers retirement or the next round of voluntary severance!
You have a lot going on in your life, some of it is stuff you aren’t able to share fully with people around you. Having to sit on things like that can be stressful and make you weepy, especially when someone gives you a phrase about something old and something new, because you have something very new.
Wet One I hope you feel better today!
She may well forgive you if you prove to her that you can be trained
metalmouse sorry to hear you had such a frustrating day, I hope you got things together in the end. And a bonus cheque, however small, is always welcome!
So do I. She has high blood pressure, diabetes, some kind of heriditery heart thing that’s only been recently found, she gets gout sometimes, she’s very overweight, her joints hurt and I am sure there are other things going on as well. Constantly griping about what other people in the office are, or aren’t, doing cannot be good for her.
Sensei enjoy the trip, and spending time with your mother. You are lucky to still have her around.
Well, yesterday took a turn but in a good way. I messaged a couple of friends who were coming to see a band at KK’s last night (we had decided not to go) as I’ve got something to pass on to them. They said they’d collect it from us today on their way home, then asked if we wanted to go out for dinner before they went to their gig. So we went to a really good curry house and had some delicious food before going our separate ways.
We walked round to the Posada, favourite barmaid was outside having a vape break and said she wasn’t going back inside until the awful song on the jukebox had finished We stood outside and chatted, then she said our favourite beer was not on at the moment but she’d got a barrel in the cellar so she went down there and put it on for us!
A pleasant evening was had, we saw a couple of pub friends for a natter and left at a decent time (I didn’t want to out too late) so I was in bed by midnight. ‘im indoors opened some wine and stayed up a bit longer. In the end, he fell asleep on the sofa and didn’t move until he was woken up by the postie knocking on the door.
Yes, my long-awaited package has arrived! I did get hold of a digital copy of the CD with two bonus tracks on it yesterday so all’s well in my little world. I’m up, cats are fed, litter trays are clean, postie’s delivered, and I’m waiting for my friends to come and collect their stuff before I go to the gym. No other plans for the afternoon, he’s cooking and we’ll need to eat quite early as we’re off to see some bands at the Giffard tonight.
The last one didn’t quite last a year, but to be fair, I’d lost the one it replaced so we can’t blame compromise - just carelessness in Gatlinburg.
I read that fast as a tuna shake. Ick.
Or it may be her only joy, for certain values of joy. Sorry you have to be her audience.
Woke to 50-ish Ferrets. It rained overnight on and off and it’s still partly overcast, tho sun is forecast. I decided today is the day to attack the mess that is the garage, especially the shelves on the side where my car lives. They’ve become the repository for miscellaneous stuff - some of which can probably be tossed. There’s boat stuff that we may be able to use and who knows what else. So good times ahead!
It occurred to me this morning that we need to arrange for Otis to spend Easter with Dolly (I think.) We’re going to my sister’s and she doesn’t have a fenced yard. Plus she really doesn’t much like dogs. I wonder if he’ll be OK home alone for 5 or 6 hours? Must discuss with FCD. It wouldn’t have been an issue with Higgs, but she mostly just slept for hours on end.
Who knows what the rest of the day holds? Guess we’ll find out as we go along.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 49 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 82 and sunny. We need to stock up on some personal necessities, so we shall go to Wally Jr. later this mornin’. Whilst out we will be bears who lunch again, this time at Jack’s since it’s nearby where we will be. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities as is our wont.
Sensei glad the kids and you are enjoyin’ your trip to see your mom and sis. I am sure they are happy to see y’all as well.
BooFae yay for package arrival!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed.
Morning all. Slept in until nearly 8am with only one break for a trip to the bathroom and woke in a much better mood than yesterday. Have printed out the info I need to do the U8 teams and will get to that today, also will go down to the fields at 10am or so and check out the coach training, so things are progressing. It’s 64 heading to 85F today and probably will open up the windows to let some fresh air into the house. Have checked the water meter on a couple of occasions and everything seems to be working fine…just have to get used to using it normally, I’ve been strickly rationing it for months now.
I’m a fairly pacific man, so no problems there. The Arab’s have a term, In’shallh, which means “As God Wllls It” and while I do not subscribe to any particular religion I find the concept useful in stressful times.
Flyboy, sounds like a good checkup. Mine won’t be until May, I think.
Thanks for the early-morning LOL moment, doggio
JtC, sorry for your friends loss, hope she survives the lazy brothers. Good luck with the florist.

Concur.
Sensei, good to hear from you! Best wishes to Sis and Mother and hope the kids keep enjoying this country. and don’t get asked about Pearl Harbor…
boo fae, a good night out with friends and a finally-arrived package. Life is good.
FCM, I mentioned, I think, cleaning out all the old paint cans in the garage. I really need to go through it thoroughly and toss all the stuff I no longer need, but it’ll be a long and dirty job…for sometime later.
And time to break fast with some Instant Breakfast and a banana. Then onward into the day. Have a good one all.
It’s 42F and cloudy right now. I woke up to rain, but at least it’s stopped for now. The forecast calls for morning clouds, partial clearing for the afternoon, and a daytime high of 50F.
Gen J, I drink Major Dickson’s when I use my Keurig. It is pretty good. It’s my “daily” coffee. I have to find a new roaster for my pour-over and French press, as my favorite has disappeared. Thus, I’ve been drinking Maj D’s for a while now. To be fair, it was also my pod for my work
Keurig.
Strangely, I still miss being the first one in the office, starting my coffee, and setting out the treats on the treat table for everyone. It was a nice, quiet time that allowed me to get through my email, take a walk through the building to ensure all was well, and enjoy the sunrise.
Metal Mouse, sorry that yesterday was so frustrating. There are just those days when nothing seems to go right. Hopefully, today is much better.
BooFae, I’m glad your package arrived. I’m sorry you have to continue to be a captive audience to Ms. Gripester.
Once again, nothing is planned for the day. That’s okay. Please take care of yourselves.
Howdy!
It’s another beautiful day with sunshine and a forecast high of 82 ferrets.
Coffee was El Morro in the auto-drip; I was lazy. This coffee is similar to Bustelo, and I might prefer it. That’s a good thing because I’ve got three cases of it stashed away for the apocalypse. I snapped it up super cheap last year at the grocery outlet store. There was very obviously a pricing mistake and I pointed it out to the cashier-- I didn’t want to rob the place, y’know? She just did an exaggerated eye-roll toward the office, shook her head and rang it up, and I made it out the store with mass quantities. SCORE!
Folks talking about dogwoods has me curious if the wild trees are blooming yet; they’re all over the place here, zone 7. I haven’t seen any close by, but I’ll take the princess dog on a hike to the creek to see if there are any blooming down there, and she can have a dip in the swimmin’ hole. I think it will be another week or two before they flower.
Look back at what you did this week. Huge steps-- leaps of faith-- with your counselor and here on this board.
I got vicarious weepage from reading about it.
Having your routine wrecked will sure wreck your routine. I hope your house woes get settled soon.
I am thinking of which younger kindred I could buy this for. They have to live close enough so I can play with it too.
If there’s one thing the princess is good at, it’s training her subjects. I will certainly know better next time.
Do you get it at Costco? They carry the Major D’s in pods and I bet it’s a big savings.
Lunch break. I’ve made lots of progress in the garage and found a lot of stuff I’d either forgotten or “lost”. I came across 2 boxes of Barbie clothes that my mom had made 60-ish years ago. I hope Roxy still plays with Barbie - I’d love for her to have it all. There’s also a box of the late in-laws’ tax returns - destined for the shredder.
There’s now a dedicated shelf for boat stuff, another for garden stuff, another for coolers and such, and a semi-miscellaneous shelf with the tool box, spare paper towels, and space for sodas when they’re on sale. I also took some pics of an aquarium that we should have sold ages ago - it’s now on Marketplace. Fingers crossed that it’ll find a new home.
I need FCD to look at some things so I know what needs to be tossed and what he can use. It’s looking lots better out there. Once that’s done, we’ll be assembling the tables for the train sets and the slot car track. Sooooooo many projects!!
I was doing the usual work 2 Slides, and help on the sorting. I also had to help out on the 300 Slide, since it’s just C over there, and she’s to afraid to clerk anything that does’ auto populate in the system. In the damages, there was a 7 pack of ceramic floor tiles from Home Despot that wasn’t damaged. [Kramer]IT’S A FESTIVUS MIRACLE!!![/Kramer]. but that’s done, along with the laundry, so I shall ward off scurvy with this gin&tonic, then nap.
Enjoy the vacation, Sensei.
Pretty much just a blended tuna noodle casserole.
And since Brexit, it’s probably too expensive to ship in a French Guillotine for involuntary severance.
One of the packages I was clerking was going to some due. When I checked Google Maps to see if it was a real address, it was a field at the end of a business Cul-de-sac that he was apparently running some sports business out of. So that went back, because no driver is just gonna chuck a box into an empty field.
Good evening all. Been out of the house for awhile after being mostly cooped up inside during the week due to the plumbing work. Went to the soccer fields to meet some of the coaches and watched them get training, then went to the library and (after having to run home to get some paperwork I didn’t bring with me) put together 12 U8 soccer teams for the season (now just need One More Coach) and I’ll distribute them sometime tonight. Then since the gym was right across the street, I went there for several hours and sweated away some frustrations, so I feel better now. And then I tried using my phone to order a meal at Five Guys (I know that’s old hat for most of you, but it’s a first time for me) and it worked fine. Bladder was a busy little bugger this morning but has settled down now so maybe the exercise helped get rid of the excess protein or something. Am now settled in at my computer and am not planning anything more strenuous than typing the rest of the night. It is still 82F outside at 6:20pm, so I guess the heavyweight comforter can be taken to the dry cleaners and then stored until the temperatures get below 40F again. But that’s for Moanday.
GenJ, nice deal for the coffee. Wonder how long it took the office folks to figure it out…
FCM, went through my files last week and cleaned out some, amazing what you can compile if you don’t look at it very often. Saw the table on the Book of Faces, looks good.
And that is the perfect way to describe it. I’ll have to remember that. Thanks!
doggio, I understood that reference.
Herald, did visit Pearl Harbor once (24 hour layover back from the Philippines) to brief an Admiral (took all of 10 minutes). Can’t speak to the living, but wouldn;t mind visiting it again.
And need to get back to internettin’ and inputting the soccer stuff among other tasks. Take care all.
Howdy Y’all! We erranded (is too a word spellcheck!) and went to Jack’s for burgers and fries. The rest of the day has been spent in sloth. Now I shall see whatup on teh intartoobz for a bit and then turn in, as I have double service and Verger duty tomorrow.
I wonder if any of the docents are still able to speak about what they saw that day. Back when I worked there, there were fewer than ten mobile witnesses (I used to sweep really slow when I heard them talking) and they were all getting up there even then.
For those who don’t know - not only did I floozy on the memorial itself, I also floozied in the basement and the Head Ranger’s office. Janitors can get away with a lot after hours.
Oh, that wasn’t a surprise, you shouldn’t be able to vote in the other parties primaries. I was just using that as verification that I haven’t been purged from the voter rolls. Yet.
HA! They will just follow their GPS and drop it where the helpful voice say to drop it.
Good job! Garages and sheds are so easy to ignore, sheds especially. I need to get out in our sheds and see what has happened over the winter. If I get run over by a beer truck tomorrow, the sheds and house will be filled with stuff in less than a year.
You are very smart, coffee prices, like everything else is just insane now.
You aren’t the one who walked out of your job, you were content there and did many good things. DOGE kicked you out and walked all over all of your good works and you are still processing this.
No luck with getting flowers delivered. I’ve been able to deal with the reservations for her so at least that’s off her list. Monday I’m going to the distillery and buying a couple of bottles of 'shine to send to her. The distillery folks won’t ship, far too much bother with licenses and stuff, and the post office bans sending liquids but fuck them. I know how to pack bottles, I’ve been mailing booze and THC all over the country for decades.
Speaking of which, I just smoked a very nice joint and think I should go outside and watch the squirrels fly around for a while.
Finally gor hired.
Training online. Was surprised they had no computer for me to use, am used to that. After 3 hours my phone was down to 75%. I was done. Had he told me, would’ve brought my charger.
Weather is not worrisome.
Was on the bus a few days ago a woman asks me if I have a few dollars for something to eat.
No. I look and she has a pack of cigarettes with her. Right.
