I know this is horrid and horrible and I’m way too shallow - BUT DAMN. I saw her last weekend at DragonCon as she spoke before a crowd, and she is definitely showing her age. It’s one of those shocking moments when you find out that actors are real people and age like usual (except for a few notable exceptions).
Marina was extremely well spoken, but to be perfectly honest I didn’t recognize her when I first saw her around the Con. I had to read her tag to figure it out.
Who else shocked you when you saw them or maybe met them in person?
Another Trek star - William Shatner. I saw him at a local convention. He’s short! You can tell he’s had more than a few drinks. He has that classic “ruddy” complexion. I got his autograph, though.
Did they ever explain in the context of the Star Trek Universe why they didn’t make the transporters put everybody back together after each trip with a 19 year old fat-free body?
This reminds me of an incident from the early 1980s, when I was thirtysomething. My husband and I and two friends went to a Tina Turner concert. We were in the third row, so we got a really close look at this powerhouse gal. She looked totally wonderful. I whispered to my female friend, “I sure hope we look that good when we are Tina’s age.” My friend, ever the realist, said “Honey, we have never looked that good in our whole lives. Why the heck would we look that good when we’re Tina’s age?”
Marina Sirtis, ancient though she may be, is better-looking than I have ever been or ever hoped to be.
That photo is very complimentary to her in my opinion. When the DragonCon photos go up I’ll see if I can find one to share with you all. I must defend my shallowness!
Did you guys see Crash? Marina Sirtis played the wife of the convenience store owner. She was practically unrecognizeable, I had to sit through the credits to doublecheck if it were actually her.
