While it initially looked like Al Snyder won a $5 million verdict against the WBC, the ruling was thrown out on appeal. Moreover, the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in Maryland ordered Snyder to pay the costs of Phelps’ appeal to the tune of $16,000. Truly adding injury to insult.
Like a lot of folks on this board, I loathe the WBC with a fiery hot blazing passion, and I respectfully request that like-minded Dopers consider joining me in donating to Albert Synder, who now must cough up 16 thousand bucks to pay for Phelps’ appeal.
Snyder’s law firm set up the following site [[LINK REMOVED]] — feel free to do the WHOIS test yourself to confirm authenticity — to help pay for costs.
But this lawsuit was bullshit from the start, the original decision and award were stupid, and it’s right that it was overturned.
I feel for the Snyder family, but they should have gone on with the lives rather than go through with this ridiculous lawsuit. I’ll pass on the donation, thanks.
