Mario Kart Wii

A quick mention of something upthread: “Broken” in some games (M:tG is where I learned it) refers to an item/card/mechanic/attack/etc that is overpowered and/or throws off game balance
[/QUOTE]

There are a million uses for “broken” in the gaming world: it’s usually thrown around to describe an element that the user doesn’t like. I honestly feel MK Wii’s online portion is “broken” because it is indistinguishable from playing the computer. I want to talk to the people I’m playing against or else what the hell is the point of going online and waiting longer to make connections and wait for people to vote on track selection, etc etc?

How? And for that matter, how do you do a wheelie? The booklet says pull back on the wheel but that isn’t working for me.
Wha, how? I “beat the game” on 150cc and the only thing I’ve unlocked (besides all the tracks obviously) is Rosalina. How do I start unlocking new characters and how do I unlock the new circuits for 50cc and 100cc?

At the top of a ramp or boost, jerk back on the wheel – right at the end of the platform. You’ll do a backflip, and once you hit the ground, get a power boost.

You have to jerk it up quickly. You may be doing it too slow. Also, to get out of the wheelie you jerk it down quickly. Or, hopping also stops wheelies. I prefer that method because it is more reliable.

I think you’re confusing wheelies with doing tricks off of jumps. Wheelies are for bikes only and they happen on the ground. Your character pops a wheelie and goes faster for a time but has greatly reduced turning ability.

He asked how to do both a backflip and a wheelie. It’s the same principle – jerk the wheel back quickly.

You’re right. I misread.

I need gold trophies for . . . ?

To unlock new characters or to unlock the 50cc and 100cc tracks?

Yes. If you win the points race, you get a gold trophy for that circuit. If you get good times and kick ass in the points, you get a better grade. Everything has to be at least a gold trophy and a star for the rating to unlock everything.

How do you unlock the Mii, and is he a character with attributes just like everyone else? How do his stats stack up?

To be honest, I don’t remember. I think his stats are based on your body type. If you’re a big person, you have more top end speed, and vice versa. It doesn’t seem right because my Mii seems to get better times than the heavyweights (who I like to use).

Ah. Here. This should help.
