Marion Ravenwood killed almost as many people as Indiana Jones did

Got to thinking about this the other day. Marion killed a number of people in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I’m used to thinking of the female lead;'s primary purpose to be saved in adventure flicks, but not in this movie. Let’s do the count. This is just going off YouTube clips as I don’t own the movie, but I get the following:

Marion

1 Nepalese thug (shot in the back)
8 German soldiers (shot with airplane machinegun)

Total: 9

Indy

1 Nepalese thugs (shot)
1 Nepalese thug (left to burn in bar)**
1 German thug (shot)

Swordsman (shot)
Truck driver (shot)
Arab gunman on truck (shot)
Bald German (airplane propeller)
German Sergeant (thrown under truck)
3 German soldiers (car forced off cliff)

Total: 11

**Can be argued if died or not.

Now, you might include one more for Indy (German in back of truck that blows up), but his fate is unclear as you never see him go down. Also, Marion guns down two German soldiers on foot at the airfield, but though I think those came from the truck it’s not 100% certain. Still, I think these numbers are pretty close.

So Marion does need rescuing now and then, but she’s not above kicking some ass. Reflecting on this makes her a more interesting character to me.

Where did that chasm come from, and then where did it go?

I refuse to acknowledge that snippet of film.

Marion probably also drank that one Nepalese thug into death from alcohol poisoning.

What about the other Nazis in the back of the truck? Didn’t Indy brush them off the truck against the side of the road? And weren’t there some motorcyclists?

She sobers up awfully fast too.

(Given that she owns the bar, I almost suspect some trickery in that scene.)

I didn’t include the guys off the side of the truck those weren’t clearly fatal. They simply fell off.

I don’t recall motorcycles in the first film.

^ Straight from the horse’s mouth!

Those were also not fatal, since they are seen getting up.

I’m not certain about the propeller guy. Yeah, Indy didn’t warn him about the propeller, but that’s not the same as pushing him into it.

Just occurred to me, why didn’t the soldiers in the truck just shoot forward from the cargo area into the cabin?
The nervous little whinny Indy makes at 4:38 makes the scene for me - he’s genuinely worried at that moment.
