Yes but the woman who beat him in the primary beat him because she was more pro-Trump than him. He may face someone in the 2020 Republican primary who is also more pro-Trump than him. Donald Trump in particular is somewhat pro-Trump.
Being more pro Trump than Sanford did not help her in the general election since she lost.
