Yeh, I remember being your “Worst Moderator Du Jour”. You tend to demonize to a ridiculous degree any mod that dares disagree with your interpretations, and I eventually learned that trying to put a stop to your compulsion to get in the last word was pretty much useless.

No it wouldn’t. The anti-conservative bias here is a myth, a case of serious confirmation bias. Plenty of obnoxious liberals get modded.
And in any case, there is still a very simple remedy for conservatives who don’t want to get modded: don’t say something obnoxious. Fortunately, it’s the remedy you ought to be applying anyway (and if I can get personal here, Debaser, it’s the one you constantly use, which is why your experience of anticonservative moderator bias is entirely secondhand). If some obnoxious liberals are saying something obnoxious, that’s on them. Keep your own nose clean, and no question of moderator bias against you will even apply.
You were never my “Worst Moderator Du Jour”. You were, and remain, my “Worst Moderator of All Time”. You really were a horrible moderator. Marley, on the other hand, is inconsistent. Sometimes he’s pretty good. Sometimes he’s pretty bad. Lately he’s been on a downward spiral. For that matter, the moderation here is going downhill over the last year or so. Mods are less responsive to poster concerns, less willing to correct mistakes, making more mistakes, and causing kerfluffles they could easily avoid, like this one, which never should have happened.

Some of us are just not inclined to accept abuse without fighting back. However, it should be noted that while I am sometimes more than a little acerbic, I do not break rules here. I’m pretty careful about that. I’ve never had a formal warning, and I intend to keep my record spotless.
Yup. You, individually, were horrible…but you were offset to some degree by G-factor, who was generally excellent. To date, there is no single mod as bad as you were…but most of them have gotten worse. As a group, they display more arrogance and disdain for posters than they used to. That’s a bad thing.
Nah…it may be silly of me, but I like to think you’re salvageable. You just need a good kick in the ass from time to time. So I provide it, as a public service.
Oh, I do! As a conservative, I have to keep my nose clean. I’ve been posting her for ten years on and off and I’ve never received a warning. (I think!)
Yet I get insulted in just about every GD thread I participate in, and nothing usually happens in response. (Full disclosure, someone did recently get a warning for messing with me, which I did appreciate.) But that’s rare.
I’ve explained it before but I don’t think it’s as if the moderators are consciously trying to be biased. But since they tend to be liberal and most posters tend to be liberal the bias ends up creeping in.
For instance, in a typical thread ten liberals might insult me. If I insult all ten of them back I’m going to get banned, because I’m insulting everyone. But they can all fly under the radar because there are so many of them and it’s not just one person doing it. What usually will happen is they all get slaps on the wrist, or a general “tone it down” admonishment from the mods.
But the mods tend not to give me specifically a hard time because I don’t give them any reason too. The bias I’m speaking up about is what I see towards other posters, like what happened to magellan01 in the mess that started this thread.
It’s all on the mods, then? I was wondering if that old “Both sides do it!” mantra of the Right had its limits-Thank you for showing us that it does. BTW, if the SDMB is persecuting the Conservative viewpoint, it has got to be the lamest “persecution” in the entire history of the internet.
Find a better public service project or a better way to provide the “service.”

Be a better moderator, and I’ll stop riding your ass. I did the same thing for you during and after Cuntgate. Rode your ass for a bit, and you actually listened and improved considerably. I think if you check, you’ll even find posts by me in this very forum praising your moderation. Lately, you’re slipping. Mostly, I let it slide until you rattle my cage.

Not lately, no. There have been periods of darkness, and will likely be again. I suspect you understand that more than most.
I suspect that you understand a lot less than you think you do. Tell me something. Are there conservative boards out there that put up with liberal posters telling off some moderators and giving instruction to other moderators?
Usually when someone says something like this, it’s because they’re offended by things that aren’t insults under the SDMB’s rules. That doesn’t mean you’re being treated unfairly or the rules aren’t being applied; it means there are plenty of ways to irritate or offend people that aren’t personal insults, trolling, or being a jerk.
Oakminster, you have your positive qualities. You’re a reasonably intelligent and articulate guy, for starters. I have never seen you let anything slide.
